How can I find out Who owns the land next to us?
The vacant land next to us was for sale but it did not sell. I heard the owner who was selling it defaulted on the loan of the property a month ago. How do I find out who currently owns the property and what might happen if the owner did stop paying on the loan. Will they auction it off? I might be interested in buying it if I can locate the owning party. I am in Indiana. Thanks.

- You can probably go to the county courthouse and inquire from the tax assessor. They'll have a record of who had the last lien on the property.
- Call your local county assessors office and ask them.
- Your local Court House can provide the information...and land owner name...and or county assessor's office.....about property tax defaults and such
- County courthouse. Assessors office, I think. Call the courthouse and ask, there should be a general information number listed in your phone book.
- The County Courthouse has all of the information that you need. It even has copies of the loan documents and liens on the property so you can know for sure who owes money on it and are the loan payments up to date or not.
- Check out your local property tax office. They should have the information you requested or at least send you in the right direction. This information can also be found on the internet as public info. Ask your tax office to show you how to bring it up online. you may also be able to see your propery as well as all your neighbors information too. Including Statistics and Maps. This is beneficial in deciding the value of the property according to your neighborhhod.
- Check with a local Realtor. They have access to that info. All they need is an adress.
- Visit the County Tax Collectors office and the Assessors office. Find the Parcel number and they can tell you the owner. Should be on thier computers.
