How much is a 1966 mustang worth?
I found a 1966 Mustang for sale by a private owner and he's asking $4,800 for it. The exterior has had some work done and the paint job is totally botched, but the interior sounds good. That sound like a reasonable price? Any advice? I'm a bit weary about buying used cars but I'm in love with this one! Thanks!

- It doesn't matter what it's "worth". The bottom line is that the seller has it listed at $4800. When you go into Walmart, do you look at a TV, and ask the salespeople whether it's really "worth" whatever the price tag is? It's simply supply and demand. If you want it, then pay for it. If not, then don't. Some people would pay double that amount. I wouldn't pay anything. So there's no specific amount that it's "worth"....
- I would take it to a shop and ask a professional. Private owners love to rip people off.
- So other things you have to think about is the engine and the tranny, Is there any rust on the car and what upgrades have been done to it, plus when you start talking about 1966 mustang it is a classic and you can put what ever price you wnat to on it and someone will buy it.
- Several variables on this one. For instance, a fastback or convertible instantly raises the value - as does a V8 and obviously a Shelby is in a class by itself. If you really like the vehicle, take it to a trusted, experienced mechanic and have him give it a good inspection. This can save you a lot of hassles and expense in the future if you purchase the vehicle.
- if you love it, then it's worth it.. but check underneath for rust..it could be a money pit..
