Help need advice ASAP with canceling my Fitness First Membership!!?

Ok, so here's the story. 3 weeks ago I signed up to a 12-month contract at my local fitness first. However, a gym closer to my house which has a membership twice the price of my current membership has offered me a job with a free membership as a perk. So how do I get out of my membership? 1) The direct debit is on my mum's account. However, do you think I could persuade the staff to change the direct debit to my account and then I could perhaps cancel my bank account, because there's only like £5 in it. (would I risk a bad record, like credit record? say if in the future I try to get a loan or get another account from that bank) 2) My mum did not actually sign the form, the sales man allowed me to forge my mum's signature (since I'm 17) in order to make the whole process a little faster. So could I use that against them. (The staff are actually polite =/) So what do I do guys, need answers ASAP. I will definitely read and rate all answers and slect the best response.

  1. My advice is for your mum to complain that the salesman allowed you to fake her signature so the contract is void. How could they allow YOU to set up a direct debit from your mum's account? That is illegal! Your mum needs to cancel the direct debit and WRITE to the manager about this. Gyms are proper cheeky (I've had to help a few people get out of contracts) and they may try to chase you for the money. They may threaten you with legal action, but stick it out because they can't win this one in court so they won't take it there. Have no further contact with the gym. Your mother must take over and all her contact needs to be in writing.
