private car sale owner.?

Hello I need your few tips here. Im interested in buying a second hand car but yet still in good conditions or perfect conditions. I look at the newspaper articles or online for used cars by private dealers (self owner driver who is willing to sale his own car) Not car dealer stores. When checking out for an inespection for the car your interesting at... What is the most thing you must say to the owner? and what should i be carefuly be checking? the motor? back? front? sides? Of course i would expect the owner to have real papers from history of the car been done... registrations... legal papers either your still payingt he car off or not.. things like that. What if the owner might not have most of this papers? then its all a fraud by saleing his or hers own car without importaint paper to see and keep if i deside to buy the car. lastly test drive it. then if happy i give a check under his name and later take it to a repair shop to check the car just to be sure>? Or should i ask him if its ok to take the car to a repair shop just to be sure this car is said and well good conditions.. of course the oanwer might say to me ( dont you trust me that this car is well condition) i might ignore that but i personaly wish to take it to check it out.. but the problem is i must go somewhere in a town that i dont no... and so i would have to choose a random place to check it out. Aniways.. should i give the check first or should i aloud him to come with the car by request as I personaly wish to be sure that this car wont have anything wrong before i give the check to u and shake hands and good bye. what do you think? have i missed anything? Also its importaint to take note of how many kilomerters the car has been from the day you had inspected and the day later you wish to buy it just incase the owner takes the ADVANTAGE of using the car before i get there If that ever happens? thanks posties Lynda

  1. take it to the repair shop to check and be sure it's okay BEFORE you buy it - once you pay for it, it's yours. If the owner has a problem with you taking it to a repair shop to have them look at it, then ask if he'll drive it there for you. You'll have to pay for the inspection yourself, whether or not you buy the car. If he's got a problem with that, look for another car - he's got something to hide.
  2. do all the above if he has a problem with you having it inspected then most liky there is something wrong with it so run away don't walk
  3. 1. INSPECT FIRST YOURSELF AND TEST DRIVE IT. 2. ASK TO SEE ALL OF THE MAINTENANCE RECORDS THAT THEY HAVE. 3. ASK TO SEE THE TITLE AND MAKE SURE IT IS FREE OF ANY LIENS AND DOES NOT SAY REBUILT OR SALVAGE. 4. CALL THE MANUFACTURER OF THE VEHICLE AND GIVE THEM THE VIN AND ASK THEM TO PULL UP ALL OF THE RECORDS THAT THEY HAVE, ITS FREE. 5. IF YOU LIKE IF HAVE IT COMPLETELY CHECKED OVER BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. 6. IF EVERYTHING IS OKAY GET A BILL OF SALE WITH BOTH THE SELLERS AND YOUR SIGNATURE ON IT.
  4. There is quite a bit of thing you will want to consider before purchasing a car. The obvious answers are always to have a mechanic look it over, however it isn't feasible if you like more than 1 vehicle. I will give you a link to the free used car evaluation program. It will help walk you through exactly what to look for on the exact car, including how to test drive it. This is not to replace having the car looked over by a mechanic, however the system can save you money by weeding out cars that have obvious problems. Mechanics will charge for each car you have them look over, so it can get costly if you are interested in more than 1 car. I developed the program in 2003 and have incorporated 7 copyrighted checklists you can print out and bring with you when you go looking at the cars. The site has an easy walk through including pictures of what to look for. I also go through tips on understanding how financing a car works. If you have questions, you can email me through Yahoo. Good luck and I hope this helps you find the perfect car! http://www.theautoevaluator.net/Before_1.html
