Painting my house --need advice.?

Need advice on a painting contractor.? I live in a small town home and wanted it to be painted professionally. I would like the master bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen, and a small bathroom painted. I called for a contractor, which I found in the yellow pages. He gave me a quote of $1,000 for one coat of paint on the walls, the doors, the trimmings, and ceilings. This quote is for all the rooms listed above. They can start the work on Tuesday. I want everything in basic white. I have researched the contractor on the web and it says the company has been in business for 30 yrs in this area. Two people own it and they do most of the work. I did not find any negative comments online. Should I go for this contractor or is this price just too low and too good to be true? What should I be on the lookout for? What details should I be conscious of in the contract?

  1. Is the paint included in the price? What brand? Do you want to upgrade the paint? The recession has been tough on a lot of small businesses... sounds like they may be giving you a good price to get the work. However, if you'd be more comfortable getting a second or third bid, why not do it?
