How long does a house sale take to go through?

We have sold our house and I was wondering how long the process takes??

1. 4-6 weeks providing there isnt a chain and your purchaser has the available funds and nothing unusual has cropped up in the survey.A house isnt sold until the money is in the bank though !
2. About 8 weeks if you've got a good solicitor! It is usually the solicitors who slow things up, I think its so you don't feel so bad about giving them the extortionate amount of money they charge.
3. Depends on the country.
4. It depends, normally about 8 - 12 weeks. But we have just bought a house and it has been 13 weeks and we havn't even exchanged yet, so it really depends. Make sure you have a good solicitor - that was my big mistake! lol
5. Depends on the speed of the solicitor.
