I am leaving the country with my house for sale. How do I get someone else to be eligible to sign my papers?

I am leaving the country and won't have access to any communication device but snail mail. My house is up for sale so I need to make my mom eligible to deal with the sale of my house if it sells while I am away. How do I do this?

  1. A power of attorney.
  2. Find an attorney. This person will handle the sale for you and give your mother the power to sign for you (called power of attorney). Usually a lawyer will charge about $500 on up to do both.
  3. Go to court, or see soilctor.
  4. If you are in the US you will have to give her what is called "Limited power of attorney" The document should say she is to act on your behalf in selling the property and what to do with money from the sell. I know it's your mom and no offense here but you really need to get a real estate attorney to either write up the document or handle the sale.I've seen these kind of deals go really wrong.
  5. yes it is a power of attorney but in real estate it takes a specific power of attorney that every lender will want to see
