Where would you buy a house: California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Louisiana, Florida, or Illinois ?

  1. Depends on what kind of weather you like. Anything south of I-10 (which can include TX, LA, FL, and CA) would have milder winters with few freezes. But summer would be hot. For FL and LA, summer would also be wet and prone to tropical storms. If you like cold, try IL, OR, or WA or northern CA. Really wet areas like WA state west coast or OR west coast can be depressing if you don't like rain. From a cultural standpoint, many parts of FL are retirement communities and many more have become strongly Hispanic. DItto southern CA and some parts of TX. If that doesn't bother you, it would be good. Now, as to property values, CA is crazy and FL is getting that way. TX has some cheaper parts. LA is still relatively cheap. Not sure about the other states. All I know is that for my money, anything north of I-20 is out of the picture. Snow and I are not close friends at my age. My arthritis just flat out doesn't like the cold.
  2. I own seven properties in Nevada State and i am foreclosing a couple, because the economy is in recession according to fox news
