How much will it cost to build or buy a house on the beach in Clearwater, Florida?

Ok I am thinking about possibly building or buying a house directly on the beach in clearwater, Florida. I want a house with about 3 bedrooms and 2 bath. It doesn't have to be 2 story. how much will it be to buy? how much will it be to build?

Wait until right after the next hurricane, and you'll be able to pick up a 'fixer upper' really cheap.
I'm not positive on exact numbers, but I can tell you, I'm 35 yrs old, I was born and raised in FL, still live in FL, my mom lives up on Amelia Island on the beach and I don't know ANYWHERE in FL that a house on the beach (like you're describing) isn't going to start at least around $350 to $400 K. That's for a small house (1400 to 1600 sq/ft). Could be different, but I don't know where. Edit: I'm not arguing with Off Grid, but Clearwater Beach "area" doesn't mean "ON" the beach
