Legitimate Work from Home Business?

A recent lay-off has forced me to reevaluate my career. I’m 44 years old, without a college degree, and I’ve seen many changes in my twenty-five years as a administrative assistant. Where at one time a administrative assistant was highly utilized by the employer, younger executives are bringing with them excellent computer skills and the need for a administrative assistant has decreased. Let’s face it, today administrative assistants get stuck with the mundane jobs the higher ups don’t want to do. My statement is not to belittle any administrative assistants who are out there, I’m just stating what I have observed. Most admins, at one point or another, has developed something they excel in and made a niche for themselves. Mine happens to be desktop publishing (creating brochures, booklet, trade information, as well as PowerPoint presentations). I’m not an artist, but do pretty good. College educated graphic designers have the market cornered in that field. I also enjoy doing research. Before I relocated to another state I had a great job in NYC researching companies for a securities analyst so he might rate a company (stocks) for his investors. Not many securities firms in this area, as most are located within the financial districts of major cities. I still have a good 25 years left in me and fill a change is due. I would like to do something that I very much enjoy. I would very much like to work from home processing paperwork for the housing industry. There has to be a job in that area due to forecloses, bank appraisals, refinancing, etc. But where does one start? I don’t buy into these “for the one time price of only $159.99 we will show you how you can work from home and make $50,000 your first week”. Yeah right. It’s a win, win situation for both parties. The processor works from home basically as a subcontractors on a per page fee. The employer doesn’t have to make office space for employees, no insurance to pay as well as any other benefits. I don’t believe in get rich promises and fully understand that one may have to put in more hours as a contractor . I also got started late in the child department. Where most people my age are already having grandchildren, my son just turned eight years old. As a single parent, I’d like to be here for him. Does anyone out there know FIRST HAND of a legitimate company, or website, that one could become involved with? Thanks.

  1. http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/TakeControlOfYourLife/story?id=2621388&page=1 There are a lot of work at home opportunities at this website, no cost, just go apply, my friend works for one of them and loves it, you have to have excellent credit though in order to be hired and a clean back ground.
  2. There are a few work at home opportunities that are not scams. If you are looking for the pie in the sky 75k per month the ones I do won't work for you. These can be done full or part time. There are no barriers (excellent for a husband and wife to do together) your initial outlay is minimal. You already have the necessary tools to get started immediately. These business opportunities thrive in any business climate. I'll give you one example. There is an item people snap up quickly. It sells for $15-$20 and it only costs $2.96. You can sell it for more or less, thats up to you. If you don't think you can sell that's alright, a lot of folks will sell it for you.. This "not" MLM. When contacting me use the subject line. Your Way to make Money Will be back 12/30 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
  3. "If a company requires initial payment from you in order to work for them, they are not legitimate." There are a few legitimate data entry companies but are not hiring and have large waiting lists (1-2yrs). The majority of data entry jobs you seen online are scams. A real company will want you to have skills inc fast typing, may want you to know MS Excel, and will usually ask that you have high speed internet. Once in a long while you may found one online on a job website but thats rare. If you do an advanced search on yahoo, you will find previous answers, sometimes the info on these is good as the info they gave is likely to have been verified if the answer was voted as 'Best'.
  4. There are a lot of great home based businesses for at home moms. Most of the home party companies work well because they can be done around your children's schedules, which is important. It also allows you some "me time" if you have some parties scheduled. I stayed at home when my kids were younger and the part I struggled with was not having some time to myself once in awhile. I'm a consultant for Scentsy and I LOVE it! It allows me to host home parties if I choose to...or not. I do a lot of "Basket Parties" which is similar to a catalog party, but better. I've found success in it and recommend it to anyone looking for a work at home job. Good luck finding something that works well for you. I strongly encourage you to do your research as there are a LOT of scams out there. Feel free to contact me if you need someone to bounce ideas off of. Lisa
