Online House Hunting

We have been married for over 10 years and we are buying a house in Florida under his name?

Is it a good idea? What are the cons and pros?

  1. under his name??? why can't you BOTH be on the deed??? sounds fishey to me....
  2. Why would it only be in his name? If you live in it together, it's considered marital property anyway.
  3. Why arent you on it? Florida is a community property state, but if your name is not going to be on the loan, you need to have it on the deed. That way you have entitlement to it.
  4. Why not both names? I would look into FL state laws as far as community property state or not.
  5. It is legally marital property
  6. sweetie, you BOTH need to be on there--not a good idea!
  7. It doesn't really matter that it is only in his name. The two of you have been married a significant amount of time. I am pretty sure this would be a mutual asset attained in the marriage even if it doesn't have your name. You can be put on the documents anyway as the co-purchaser. That should have no effect on whatever deals your husband is getting.
  8. better get that house in your name too girl; how could you be so naive?
  9. Yes, it should be BOTH NAMES on the deed, regardless of the mortgage. The other term to make sure is ON THE DEED is JOINT SURVIVORSHIP.
  10. Why not your name?.. I would accept that only under my name. Couples get divorce after 20, 30 or 40 years of marriage, and believe me men fight for what is left, not all of them but most of them..do you know in which side would be he?-- (no, because they change in many ways that you don`t imagine)
