What are the names (makes/models) of cars to look for that are the cheapest you can get used, dependable?

if someone is in the market for a used car, that is inexpensive , very basic, not fancy, or particularity stylish, but will get you to where you need to go if you take care of it, but that is a dependable car what are the makes and models of such a car? If someone is looking for something probably with a previous owner and it has a for sale sign etc, or it is in the newspaper ?

It really depends on how much you want to spend, but you can never go wrong with a Civic or an Accord. I drive and Accord and love it. Below is a link for a 2002 Civic Sedan with 64k miles for $6799. (Just an example of what you might find)
