Online House Hunting

I just bought a house in Florida and need to get the blueprint of the house. How do I get the blueprint?

Where do I call to get the blueprint?

  1. check with the tax assessment office or the recorder of deeds
  2. Check with the seller. Find out the contractor who built the house, they should have a copy of the blue print
  3. If the house is not too old, you can see a copy of the prints that were presented to the area planing and zoning department when the builder/owner obtained the building permit. Obtaining a copy is another matter. I doubt the p/z office has a copy machine large enough and due to copy right reasons, its not likely they would/could provide you a copy. In order to get true blueprints, you need the originals anyway. Once you see a copy of the blueprint, copy the information on the lower right hand corner of each page. It will give the name and hopefully the address and phone number of the person who drew the prints. You may be able to obtain a copy from them.
