Online House Hunting

can a dog be purchased online and then be shipped to your house?

i paid $300 to some online website, which said that they will ship the dog via some postal carrier like UPS or similar to your house. It has been 3 weeks but the dog i buy online has still not been shipped to my house. Today i visited the same website to know what is going on, but the website is no longer in existence. Its website address has now become a dead link.

  1. No, they probably just wanted your money and you fell for it.
  2. Then you just got cheated out of $300. Dogs should never be bought over the internet. It's a recipe for disaster.
  3. you have been scammed... never buy a dog online, you never know what or IF you'll be getting chalk it up to a lesson learned..
  4. Uh-oh, it sounds like you've been scammed! Most likely this website was a fraud and was shut down for that reason. Next time, try not to purchase large animals off of the internet, as shipping them is nearly impossible. Sorry for your loss! =[
  5. You got scammed. Sorry. Never give anyone a dime for a dog until you can see it in person.
  6. Dude, you just got scammed.
  7. You've been scammed. You should never buy a puppy online. Must have been those idiots from Cararoon. Sorry for your loss. Hope you learned something.
  8. sorry to tell you but you got scamed. puppie/dogs CANNOT be delivered to your house. next time make sure you look into it and call someone.
  9. It could if it were a reliable site, but I would never recommend it. I see you have already learned a valuable lesson. I think you have lost $300. You should always be able to see and touch the animal you want to purchase. Never buy an animal you haven't seen before.
  10. it was probably a scam. NEVER buy a dog online. Puppymills use fancy websites and cute puppy pictures into tricking unsuspecting pet owners. You will most likely not get your money or puppy Visit this website: http://www.stoppuppymills.org/ http://www.adoptdontshop.com/
  11. Sorry to say, you got scammed. A puppy will never, NEVER be shipped like a dvd from amazon. Shipping a dog, means they put them on a plane and you go to your nearest airport to pick them. Don't buy a puppy till you have talked with the breeder, for many months. You have gotten to know them and their practices. This was a very foolish mistake on your part. Try to do your research next time.
  12. Ordering reptiles, invertebrates, and feeder animals (such as mice) are often purchased online every single day. Heck, even I've purchased a reptile online but from an extremely reputable and well reviewed breeder. But dogs? Dogs should be visited in person before you purchase it for several reasons. How do you know this dog has a good temperament? How do you know it's healthy? How do you even know it EXISTS? Over the net, you don't. I'm sorry but you've been scammed. I'm sorry you are out $300 but take it as a good, hard lesson. Try going to a local breeder or better yet, a local shelter and purchasing a dog there where you can actual meet this dog in person!
  13. This is an old scam. I think you can probably contact your Attorney General for your state and report it, but you problbly will not get your money back. You have to be very careful to buy pets on-line. It is usually a bad thing. Sometimes you do get the puppy, but it turns out to be very ill.
  14. This is why you should ALWAYS go see the breeder at their facility. Here's a website you'll be interested in http://stoppuppymills.org Try and see if there's a lawsuit against these jerks and see about joining it to get some reimbursement.
  15. That was a bad idea. You probably bought your puppy from a puppy mill. Dogs there are treated horribly. They live in their own feces, are always sick, live in cages out in the rain and hot heat, etc. Look up puppy mills on the net and search for websites about them and also see them on youtube. It is VERY sad. Good luck.
  16. I'm sorry, but - you really shouldn't buy a dog in that way - you should see it first - make sure it's healthy, has a good temperament, well handled etc etc. It really shouldn't be allowed!
  17. A dog cannot be delivered to your house using mailing services like the United States Postal Service, UPS, etc. The closest thing that could come close to it would be if they had contacted a pet carrier service to pick up your dog from your nearest airport and have them bring your pup to your house, but the shipping alone for booking a flight and a carrier service for a pup is WAY MORE than $300. You've been scammed of $300. The best thing you can do now is contact your credit card company and alert them of fraud. Usually they protect against fraud, so you may be able to get your money back.
  18. im sorry to say but their have had your money and ran,, try going to a dogs home. i got my dog from a dogs home and hes great andwe behaved and he was only £60 with also a lead and collar and the dog. nd your giving a dog a home!
  19. You got scammed. You probably (hopefully) have now learned this, but NEVER purchase a dog from a website!
  20. I won't yell at you, since you're getting enough of that. But you knew this was not the way to get a puppy, didn't you? If you paid for this with your credit card, you should contact the credit card company and report this. They may want you to contact the police, too. This is fraud. Here's an article on this scam. Apparently it's been happening a lot, and there have been at least 700 people reporting this already this year: http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/103458/Scammers-Fetch-Online-Puppy-Buyers Here's where to report Internet Crimes like this: http://www.ic3.gov/ I hope you get your money back and those criminals get convicted. Now educate yourself and make a better decision the next time.
  21. you got scammed yes you can order a dog and have it shipped, but not directly to your house.. most sites are puppy millers or brokers tho. The thing here is that you can NOT have a dog shipped by postal carrier or UPS.. a dog would have to be shipped by airplane and you would get it at the airport. It costs around $300 just to ship a dog by air. There are ground transport services also that would deliver to your home, but they are ussually more expensive than air.
  22. Tragically, yes, irresponsible "breeders" do sell puppies to anyone with a valid credit card (whether it's on the Internet, at pet stores, in classified ads, etc.) Avoid losers like that. A good breeder, in addition to many other qualifiers, will ask you a lot of questions, have you sign a contract outlining care and responsibilities, and deny you a puppy if he/she doesn't feel you'll provide an adequate home. You just can't properly screen potential buyers over the Internet or over the phone. Thankfully, it sounds like you were scammed. I don't mean that I'm glad you lost your money. (That's awful.) But I'm glad they weren't actually sending innocent, helpless, voiceless puppies off to god knows where.
  23. Sorry, it's a well known scam and you've just been had. At least you are lucky. I know of people who get taken for thousands by such crooks. Then again, I can't imagine why someone would care enough about animals to get one but then would buy one sight unseen from some internet site. But thats just me I guess.
  24. Sorry, You just feel for a scam..They ran off with your money and you will never see that dog.. It's sad, but it's the truth.. EDIT: No dogs cannot be shipped to your house. They have to be picked up at the airport..
  25. You should know that buying a pet online is never safe. You should want to see in person what you buy. Would you purchase a child online with out holding or touching it and seeing it living and breathing first. I hope this was a well learned lesson and i do apologize that it was a hard one at that. Hopefully you will not try this again in the future.
  26. No!!! Always look in the newspaper for dogs to buy never online. I bought a dog online and it was DEAD when I got it. I'll be praying for you bro' God Bless
  27. LOL. How in the world can a dog be shipped by post office? You really think that the postal worker would load the dog on his vehicle and drive it for 100's and 100's of miles nationwide and then walk it all the way to your door? The dog probably would bite the postal worker hundreds of times by then.
  28. you got jacked!
  29. Never buy dogs from a breeder that allows their puppies to be shipped. It's either a poor breeder or a scam. A good breeder does not ship their puppies, they provide a detailed application and they allow you to come by and interact with the puppies to see which one suites you. Also you should try animal shelters. Their are so many sweet dogs and puppies there waiting for good homes.
  30. SCAMMED! JORDAN S: Puppies are shipped EVERY day. Just because a breeder ships does not mean they are BYB's or Puppymills. If so, I guess that would put Marienburg, Cambria and other WELL known reputable breeders on your list. Shipped pups usually come in via air transport.
  31. It can be done but not advised as there are so many scammers taking money and sounds like you are a victime of one. Also it in my opinion is very cruel to ship any animal. Find a breeder in your area.
