Hole in wall at mobile home?
My mother bought a single wide mobile home brand new 6 years ago...ive actually never seen one this nice before! Anyway..she is moving to a big house with her fiancee and is selling the trailer, to me....she is refunding me part of the money from the sale for some repairs...one of which is a big hole, made by me, hehe, in the back bedroom wall. How would I go about repairing it? Is it different than fixing a wall in a normal house? And can you paint over the walls, they are kind of a patterned paneling? Thanks...Also, the walls have a strip from floor to ceiling about an inch wide every 5 feet or so..guess where the paneling ends....if i paint how would i go about making that look decent?

- Well to fix the hole you woudl need to take the whole panel off where the hole is at and replace it and that will fix your hole. But to paint paneling you ahve to sometimes give it 2 or 3 coats before you can get the paneling to your color desire. and yes every 5 feet it's where the paneling connects with the other.
- Sounds like you have paneling which is 4' wide, I would remove the strips on either end and top and bottom, remove the sheet of paneling, fix the substate and try to purchace a peice of paneling of the same style, home depot and lowes carry quite a few styles. Re fasten your panel and re attach your strips. Yes you can paint over paneling but you will need to sand the paneling very well to get paint to stick to it
- I took the strips off, taped and drywalled those seams then painted. Been a year ago and they look and are holding up fine. You should also be able to repair the hole in the wall the same way that you do in conventional housing except that the walls are thinner in a trailer and you might have a hard time matching the drywall thickness.
