Used Autos For Sale By Owner Knowledge Base

what is another website besides Craigslist and auto-traders that is very popular for used auto sales by owner? I am looking for a used Honda CR-V for under 3500 w/ reasonable miles, I have found a few on craiglist and autotraders. But call me picky but not in the right color or ones that are the right color but 200K miles which I know for a Honda is not that bad, but still want to shoot for under 150K. Anywho, any options that I haven't tried yet that you guys may know of?
Where can I find used cars for sale by owners? i've been to Auto trader and it wasn't much use any other websites out there?
Where to find parked cars for sale in Los Angeles? Looking for a place where there are a bunch of used cars for sale by owner parked in San Fernando Valley/ Los Angeles. Dealerships are a rip off and there is too much competition on Craigslist and at auto auctions. Thanks for any help.

I would like to rescind an auto sale in Missouri. What is a transfer agreement? We "purchased" a used car over a month ago and recently found out that the seller, a reputable dealer in the St. Louis area (Suntrup Hyundai), did not have the title for the car. While complaining to the dealership about the lack of a title, my wife met the previous owner of the car we purchased and found out that he had not sent in the title as he was still waiting for the dealership to pay off the loan on the trade-in (the car we purchased.) So, the dealer sold us a car that he hadn't paid off yet. He has already been paid for the car by us, even though he still doesn't have the title to it. He keeps giving us the run-around about why we haven't recieved the title. In short, he keeps lying about why we haven't recieved it. We would like to rescind the sale, and can do so within 5 days of the transfer agreement. What exactly is a transfer agreement? Any help with this is very much appreciated.
Whats a good option for a CHEAP fairly fast car (Used) and moderately reliable? *****Note: Alot of information, try to atleast read most of it****** Hello all, I have once again been looking around on the internet (again) for some nice cheap cars I may be able to buy in the near (or far) future. I currently drive a 04 Hyundai Tiburon GT, it is really lacking on the performance side of things, but its appearance is utterly flawless (aside from some minor scratches and paint chips from rocks). It has been a good car, but I know it won't last forever, plus as stated its fairly slow so I would either like a 2nd car or to replace it all together. The tiburon is a V6 172hp 130ish ft lb torque low output car. 2 door, leather seats with a moon roof, Infinity sound system, 15' scraped rims (previous owner couldn't drive), and plastic interior. I am going through out this tiburon rundown so you understand it IS a good car, but for the next one I want something better. Now for my living area and activities. As for location, I live in a small town in West Virginia (no, i'm not a hillbilly, but there all around), and as I suppose most people know WV is known as "The Mountain State." This is a literal statement, out roads are 85% narrow winding paths converted from old Wagon roads (what my father has Always told me). Weather conditions vary during the year, from desert drought, to floods, ending in blizzards. Myself, I rarely do anything other than go to college come home and occasionally go around to the few stores with my friend, thats car-related activities, and a job most likley by the time I actually get the new used car. My main wants for a car are a high output motor with decent horsepower, very responsive controlls, nice torque for a nice gas-to-engine feel, and it has to be an okay car stock AKA runs nice with no aftermarkets, although I may add some eventually. Appearance isn't very concerning to me, but there's a point that won't be passed. The cars uses will be ofcorse the average every day erands and trips, along with possibly some racing if they open a track up, if its built for it maybe some off-road rally racing, if it AWD/RWD maybe some offroad drifting. Plus just going over the speed limit to show off to myself, no-one else than me. It needs to seat atleast 2, which is done by pretty much every car. My main car wants: 06/08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 06/08 Subaru Impreza WRX STi 03+ Nissan 350z (any base) Cars I DO NOT WANT: Another Tiburon or anything Hyundai Civic, I know there popular, but I really dislike them Cobalt (I literally loath these) Ford Focus Most other things are fine. As stated earlier, it needs to be fast, faster than my tiburon (134 max, 0-60 in 7 second, that really isn't good) and about the same control. Gas milage isn't much of a concern, just stay around the 18mpg mine does (or better). Chances are I will get multiple people recommending Mustang's, in all honesty I wish I got one instead of my tiburon, my friend has a base model one, he likes it but claims it is extremly hard to control on sharp curves. Now, if you have managed to make it this far I am surprised, it is finally time for a price range. Now, as a price range I cannot be extremly accurate since I do not know when I will/if I will get a car at all. What I expect would have to be -5k if I don't trade my tiburon, 12-14k if I do trade. I look through the "Auto Trader" sales paper that is distributed occasionally, there's a few cars for 1000-3000 that aren't bad, so possibilities are all around me. Thanks greatly to everyone, KingTirant Whats everyones thoughts on a Honda Accord EX coupe? I "like" them, they are obviously dependant being made by honda (200k miles usually). What would be a good price for a 94-02 one in fair/good condition, and how much would it cost to replace some of the frame, front with an acura integra (front lights and bumper), and a rear light swap with either the 02 model (if i cant get an 02) or something that resembles a skyline (matches the front integra). I know the integra front is possible as I have seen it done, but it may be expensive. My main dealings are with the great debate, Import vs. American. I know Imports look better, but they tend to cost more to get up to specs, as with the 2 main americans (camaro/stang) there expensive to ensure. Most of the cars I like from japan are hard to find 350z, 240sx, STi, Evo, etc, and they aren't cheap to get either (350's held its base price for along time). I was thinking of myself and my friend to both get a mustang gt 98+ and have our own little deck-it-out contest. Supercharger, new heads&cams, custom exhaust, and a salem kit for me (maybe cobra fin). Currently i'm paying around $160 per month on insurance, thats pretty much everything on it other than natural disasters (if its ment to be struck by lightning, so be it). I'm thinking it won't spike to over 250 per month with w/e I get aslong as its resonable (no cobra/lambo/ferrari/porche/supra etc.)
Could someone help me understand this "AFFIDAVIT OF DUPLICATE TITLE" form? I bought a used car from a dealership and lost the paperwork for it before ever transferring it to my name, yeah I am a moron, and I feel so stupid for losing it. I do still have the Bill of Sale so I do have proof that I paid for and own the vehicle. The dealership did not register the car in their name so the person that originally traded the car to the dealership is still registered as the owner. I tried getting in touch with this person and offered to give her a few hundred dollars if she could help me out by just applying for a lost title and then signing it over to me, but she seems to think I am trying to scam her or something, said she needed to talk to her attorney to make sure it's legal to do that, which I can understand seeing as how I never dealt with her when I bought the car. I was told by someone with experience in auto sales that the dealership would have made her sign over her power of attorney over the vehicle and that I could get the dealership to apply for a duplicate title. I live in Indiana and I was able to find this form http://www.in.gov/icpr/webfile/formsdiv/22620.pdf First, does anyone know if this would be the correct form? And secondly, it looks like I would fill out the right side of the form and then the dealership would sign the left side? Last thing, Can I print this out and bring it to the dealership so they can sign it and I can turn it in or would the dealership have to deal with the BMV directly? Thank you for your time, really appreciate anyone who can help me out. I found this form also, might this be an option as well? I bought the car for $3,000 http://www.in.gov/icpr/webfile/formsdiv/23037.pdf
Why is it somehow "wrong" to make a car salesman play by your rules when making a purchase? My boyfriend of 6 months went with me to look at a 2006 Ford Mustang at a dealership today. He says it was "wrong" for me to make the salesman treat me a certain way and play by my rules. Here's a little background on me; I'm a 38 year old woman and have been an ASE certified auto mechanic for 18 years. I'm part owner of the shop my dad founded in 1980 and I serve as the general manager in charge of 10 mostly male employees so I'm used to getting respect. Although, if you ask any of my guys, I'm not an evil slave driver, I'm really cool about a lot of stuff. They just know they better show the utmost respect to customers and don't do anything dishonest. Whenever I go to buy anything big I like to keep the upper hand with the salesperson, unless its a private party sale where there's never any need to anyway. This is also the first time I've ever really dealt with a car dealer on a sales basis before; I usually drive whatever the shop is selling for unpaid mechanic's liens (I'm a single mom of 4; 1 in college, 1 in the Air Force and 2 at home and I don't make THAT much) but I just paid off my house (after 15 years) and I want something nice for once. I've saved for years for a newer car. Well, when we went into the dealership the salesman I talked to immediately tried to steer me towards buying a new Focus, a car I wouldn't buy if my life depended on it. I told him that I was only interested in the Mustang and unless he had an older Camaro or Firebird in good shape (for possible restoration) on his back lot, I wasn't interested in anything else. He then proceeded to call me "Missy" which I HATE being called. I may be female and reasonably attractive but "Missy" sounds like something you would call a little girl. My name is Sandra Elizabeth and the guys who work for me address me as various forms of those names (I'm not picky, one tech jokingly calls me Lizzie Macguire because I look like an older Hilary Duff and it doesn't bother me a bit) but would never, ever call me Missy and expect to keep their jobs. I told the salesman that if he wanted to earn a sale from a cash buyer he'd better address me as ma'am or by my name, take me to the car I wanted to see, not try to sell me anything else and keep his comments to himself while I inspected the vehicle unless I asked him a question. I even explained to him that I am a mechanic and I know exactly what I'm looking for (and probably a lot more about cars than he does) so his comments would be useless anyway. My rules with salesmen are basically show me respect, don't lie to me and let whatever you're selling sell itself. He wouldn't keep his mouth shut and kept treating me like a kid so I walked off and directly into the manager's office and explained to him that I didn't like the way the salesman treated me and that if I didn't get a full apology from him I was not going to purchase the car. The manager called the sales guy in and it sounded like he was getting a major talking to. The manager came out, apologized for the salesman and handled the details of the sale for me. My boyfriend says that I was too rough on the guy and I should have just let him do what he was doing. I'll admit that I am one tough cookie; who wouldn't be after raising 4 kids on their own and managing a shop full of men? I just felt I deserved reasonable respect. When I sell lien cars I basically leave the potential buyer alone until they have a question; its less intimidating particularly for inexperienced buyers. I want them to feel comfortable with me because if they do, they might use my shop in the future.

How do I cancel my La Fitness Pro Results Body of Change personal training contract? To cancel your La Fitness Pro Results personal training simply write a letter to the Better Business Bureau, and wait. Having an attorney send a letter to their corporate office also helps. These are almost always guaranteed to work if your problems are legitimately concerning (and referencing) trainer no shows, being switched trainers numerous time, harassment, stolen sessions, or misrepresentation at the point of sale (the time of signing up), such as being told you can cancel your contract at any time with no penalty or not being told effectively and directly that your contract will automatically convert to a month to month program upon completion, both of which I'll discuss next. Very often La Fitness Pro Results sales reps will mislead you by telling you that you may cancel your personal training contract at any time with no penalty, which is completely false, (in some states) such cancellation usually requires a buy-out fee/penalty of 50% of the remaining balance and can total many hundreds of dollars. Some are in excess of a thousand. Also La Fitness Pro Results sales reps will mislead you about your contract automatically renewing. One of their 'gimmicks' in this regard is to use 'fast talk' and refer to this as your "Rate for Life Guarantee", when in effect all of their personal training contracts are set to automatically renew after their initial term (month to month). In April 2008 (or approximate to that time) La Fitness mysteriously cancelled numerous contracts (and stopped billing) those which had entered automatic renewal, in which members checking and credit cards accounts were being billed for MANY months after their initial term, some for over a year, with payments ranging $100-$400 monthly. These contracts (payments/drafts) were mysteriously cancelled yet to my knowledge none of the funds were ever returned to the clients. This was done company wide, and was not mentioned to upper management or club management. This was a onetime thing. They did not cancel all auto-new contracts. It appears they only cancelled those who had been in auto renew for quite some time, as they let many in auto-renew at that time continue, and they still continue to automatically renew contracts on a daily basis. It may also be possible they've decided to let all contracts auto-renew, yet set a pre-determined amount of time they would allow such contracts to continue to be billed (for example an additional 12 months), then cancel future drafts at such a pre-set time. It was suggested to the owners of the company and their corporate brass to provide a list of ALL clients not using their personal training. This was suggested as a way of increasing customer service. This was rejected. Why? They feared that if 'non using clients' (but who were still being billed/drafted) were contacted, they would immediately become aware they were still being drafted for a contract they thought was completed and not using, resulting in people contacting their banks in order to stop electronic billing, and this could cost the company millions! As a result, the only list provide to the club is a much shorter (safe) list of members whose accounts were active recently, but who have not used their personal training in the past 30 days. Anyone outside of that time frame is not put on that list due to the reasons I just explained. I've been told directly by the owner and "La Fitness Top Brass" their fear is having an attorney/attorney general shut down their ability to auto-renew contracts which would cost the company millions of dollars yearly. Also their clients have had thousands upon thousands of sessions stolen by trainers, resulting in trainers fraudulently getting paid at the loss of sessions to the clients, very often with neither the client nor La Fitness even being made aware, and sessions never being restored. La Fitness is aware of the loopholes which allow their clients sessions to be stolen, but have done little to correct the problem due to cost and inconvenience. Such solutions could include a finger print system, or a signature verification system, or simply locking down accounts which are not being used. Also all La Fitness gym members need to be made aware that their billing information (while safely hidden) has the potential to used by the personal training department to bill ongoing services for personal training without the main members knowledge/authorized signature. This has also happened numerous times, to unwitting spouses and often by underage children, using their parents accounts even with the sales reps knowledge the child is underage and doesn’t have their parents approval. Sales reps have also fraudulently and intentionally charged accounts of members for personal training services without the members’ knowledge. If you have had problems in these areas above, you may choose to contact an attorney, the Better Business Bureau and your State Attorney Gener
What are my chances for being approved for auto financing? I have been wanting to purchase a vehicle for sometime now. I paid all cash for my first car but for the car of my dreams, i'm going to need to finance. Now i'm not trying to buy an 07 Vette or something, were talking a '67 Mustang Coupe ($7000). If I tried saving up for it, it'd take me all year (don't plan on leaving my current job for awhile) and by then the car *might* be gone. This is not at a dealership. It's a used car lot where the owners sell the cars to prospective buyers through car sales people. So the owners sit back and relax at home till someones interested. I started my first credit card back in August of '05. Since then i've mostly paid my card on time (had two hiccups last year) and I usually pay more than the minimum. My only collatteral is my '86 Chevy Celebrity if that matters. I have a bank account and can easily save $1000 by the end of the next month (taxes). So what do you think my chances are of being approved? Should I pay off my credit card first?
Are you happy about the resounding failure that was Cash for Clunkers? So the bottom line is we spent BILLIONS of dollars for nothing, as the program did not do what was intended and it would have been better off being LEFT ALONE....i.e. NO GOVERNMENT INTERVENTION!!! Do you liberals get it yet? Are our elected leaders really this ignorant, or did they just want another fix of spending someone else's money? excerpt... The dotted line simply averages the sales for the month of the clunkers program and the month after. I think it is pretty clear that we spent a few billion dollars making some used car owners happy (by overpaying for their vehicles) but did absolutely nothing to move the trend line in auto sales, as the program appears to have just pulled forward purchases rather than stimulated new ones. http://www.coyoteblog.com/coyote_blog/2010/06/stimulus-was-a-clunker.html PS before you try bashing the source, the US Govt was the source for all this information, so don't even try it. Dave: rooting against the absurdity that was cash for clunker IS rooting FOR America, for good stewardship of our resources as well as wise spending by our elected leaders
Help me translate this Carfax report!? We are considering purchasing a 2008 used vehicle - we have checked it out, done a test drive, and everything runs GREAT and looks great. On the Carfax report though, it shows 3 "owners" in only 2 years! Based on the below reports, can you help me decipher what these "owners" could mean and where/if we should be concerned? Does this sound a little fishy? OK so i found a car on autotrader and i emailed the seller i was interested and he replied "Hi, Thank you for your interest in buying my Camry. Let me tell you a few words about the Toyota. It’s a 1993 Toyota Camry, in perfect condition, with no need for additional repairs, no scratches, dings, special marks whatsoever, never been involved in any accidents. The interior looks great (NO SMOKING). It has 78,000 miles and a clear title ready to be signed and notarized on your name. The price is $1150. I sell the Camry at this price because I have recently moved to Greece. I was hoping to take my car here but when I found out how much shipping and registration would be I've changed my mind. As I'm unable to travel in the near future and I don't have anyone in United States to help me with the sale I've decided to make this transaction through MSN Autos. You will have a hard time finding a cleaner used Toyota than this one right here. Runs and looks great. If you're interested and you have the funds, email me back and I am ready to explain you all the details about how we can close this deal." And i replied sounds good, lets hear the details. Then he replied "Hello, The shipping arrangements have already been made before moving to Greece. The car is at the shipping company in Helena, MT, sealed and ready for the shipping. I have a contract with MSN Autos so this deal must go through them. It will arrive with all the papers and documents (clear title, bills of sale, car's manual) to prove the ownership and to be able to register it with no problem. The clear title and the bill of sale will be both signed so you can become owner of the car on spot. The final price you will have to pay is $1,150. The payment will be done through MSN Autos. They will supervise our transaction. You will send the money to MSN Autos and as soon as the payment is confirmed they will notify me to proceed with the shipping. I will ship the car, you will receive it and will have 5 days for inspection, both the car and the paperwork. During all this time MSN Autos will hold the money. If you are satisfied with the car and decide to keep it you must let MSN Autos know about this and they will release the money to me. If the car is not as described by me and decide not to keep it, MSN Autos will refund you the money, no questions asked, and i will be responsible for shipping the car back. I think this is more than fair for the both of us. Please take into consideration that I will get paid only after you receive the car and make sure everything is as agreed. If you decide to move ahead, send me your full name and full shipping address (where you want the car to be delivered ) to initiate the transaction. You will be contacted by MSN Autos with all info you need regarding shipping and payment instructions. I will appreciate an answer as soon as possible. Also, feel free to ask me any question you may have. Thank you" I have not replied to this email. DO you think this sounds safe?
Who knew that barrera-autosales.com, autoaven, com and stars-auto.com are the same scamers? Look at barrera-autosales.com, autoaven, com and stars-auto.com they have made some changes to the web page but it is still a scam site quote Denver News BBB Flooded With Complaints On 2 Auto Auction Sites Stars-Automart, Autoaven Sent Cease And Desist Letters POSTED: 12:41 pm MDT August 11, 2009 DENVER -- The Denver office of the Better Business Bureau said its telephone helpline has been jammed with calls from people across the country who are asking about two auto sales Web sites that claim to be headquartered in Denver. According to the BBB, calls have been nonstop and the BBB has sent a "cease and desist" notice regarding trademark infringement to the company because of a fake BBB report the sites link to that falsely shows the company with an A+ rating. The two Web sites list one physical address as 10701 W. Sixth Ave, but that address actually belongs to BBB Accredited business, Automotive Avenues, Inc. Another link goes to 3925 Monaco Parkway, which actually belongs to Cintas Document Management -- a paper shredding company. The two Web sites, www.stars-automart.com and www.autoaven.com, claim to offer sales of repossessed vehicles. The BBB said customers complain that once a majority payment is sent via MoneyGram to a Denver address, the company ceases communication. The company has not responded to the BBB. An Internet check shows the two domain names are registered to a private registration company in Sunnyvale, Calif. The BBB said it sent out the warning because on-delivery and Internet auction fraud were the top two complained-about fraud types at the Internet Crime Complaint Center. "The BBB takes complaints very seriously and does not want any more consumers to be victimized," a news release stated. TheDenverChannel attempted to contact the Web sites without success. The phone number listed on the site goes to a recording, which suggests callers contact them by e-mail. The same section of the stars-automart.com Web site lists a James Stewart as the owner. To protect from online scams, the BBB has the following suggestions: • Verify any organization credentials with the organization directly, (BBB, AutoTrader, Consumer Reports logos, etc.) • Check the company’s BBB report at www.denver.bbb.org or by calling 303-758-2100. Only do business online with websites you are familiar with and that have a positive track record. • Make sure the website has a privacy policy. It will contain agreements on how the information you provide on the website will be used and kept private and secure. Print this and keep it in your records. • The privacy policy may also contain the company’s mailing address. Only do business with companies that provide a sure method of contact, should something go wrong. • Do not wire transfer any payment. Wired funds cannot be traced and therefore cannot be recovered if you are a victim of fraud. • If you have become a victim of fraud, contact your BBB and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov to file a complaint. I am only trying to warn people that the scammers come on yahoo and say that they are a good company when they are a scam. If you feel that this is wrong to post this information please send me an email N I am one of those idiots who fell for the scam. Then the scammers come on YA and tell what a good deal it is. What do you think Arizona Border Town Home to New Illegal Immigration Tactics? MCNEAL, Ariz. (KGUN9 –TV) – While the entire nation is talking about illegal immigration, the residents of McNeal, Arizona are impacted by the smuggling activity on a daily basis. McNeal is a community located less than thirty miles from the United States and Mexican border. Illegal immigration is a big time problem in McNeal, and all three hundred residents (some say that number is inflated) seem to have a personal story about illegal immigrants and drug or human smugglers. "Just last week, three of them showed up at my back gate. It was three young men...they were from Mexico City," shared Richard Humphries. Stephanie Langham added, "We're dealing with drug wars, human trafficking wars...we're dealing with smuggling...all of this stuff!" "We probably see 30-40 (illegal immigrants) a day between Davis Road and here!" said John Brya, adding, "At least the ones you can see!" Ones you can see? KGUN9 On Your Side didn't know exactly what the local store owner meant. But, we started to figure it all out when McNeal residents Sean and Stephanie Langham took us for a little walk. The couple met our KGUN9 reporter weeks prior at an anti-SB1070 protest in Tucson and invited us to see first hand what they say really goes on in their border town. "In this area this is where the coyotes are, the drop vehicles ... This is where you see the beginning of the drug smuggling. This isn't just about people trying to find jobs," said S&S Auto owner Sean Langham. A few steps further into the desert and under some desert brush we saw what everyone in town meant when they talked about the illegal immigrants and smugglers you could not see. That's because a lot hide in what appears to be a hole right in middle of the desert landscape. But, the hole we were gaping into wasn't any natural hole, it was an man-made underground stash house. A stash house that wasn't discovered by local cops or Border Patrol. "This was found by our children. That's who found it. I know there are a lot of mine shafts around here, but this is not a mine shaft," said Sean Langham. Our guide scouted the stash house for any occupants finding only a lone red racer snake taking up residence down below. "I've never seen anything like this. This underground stash house has its own running water, its own electric box over here, and even its own address, # 475," recounted KGUN9 reporter Joel Waldman. In the back, next to the local reptile resident, were dirty buckets that we're told double as toilets. There were plenty of buckets for plenty of people who use it to hide out. "Just two weeks ago, 70 illegal immigrants were found in this three room stash house. The people here in McNeal called Border and Customs Protection, and all 70 were detained. But this is something the people around here deal with on a daily basis," noted Waldman. Back above ground Stephanie Langham wanted to ground us in reality, "Understand you're protesting for one reason, but we're protesting for another!" This mother of four led us to another stash house, this one in plain sight, an abandoned house for sale. And, then, a moment of genuine concern, "Even now doing this interview, we don't know the repercussion!" Fear and loathing reflects how people in McNeal are feeling these days, especially toward the federal government who they say has been lax in dealing with immigration issues. "Obama wouldn't learn a damn thing he doesn't already know if he came to the border, he doesn't care," said Humphries, a retired narcotics officer. "Do you think it's a matter of time before there's another Robert Krentz (a local rancher murdered by a suspected illegal immigrant back on March 27th)?" KGUN9 asked. "I think it is only a matter of time. Yeah, I do," said Humphries. http://www.kgun9.com/Global/story.asp?S=12973520
Do I have a right for a lawsuit? This happened last August. My husband and I purchased a pickup truck from National Auto Sales in Marietta Georgia. It's an in house financing dealership. Within 2 days of buying it we were going on a trip to Minnesota to pull a cargo trailer for a friend. We told this to the salesman who told us it was no problem. We made a $400 down payment. While in Minnesota, we were late paying by about 2 to 4 days. We recieved a very rude phone call from a lady at the dealership. I talked to her supervisor and told him we had pulled a trailer to Minnesota and my husband had to fly to Seattle Washington on urgent business. We were waiting on payment from a customer in Seattle. The supervisor (I believe his name was Ira) said ok. Told him we would pay the next afternoon. We didn't take into account that Seattle was 3 hours behind Georgia. Next day Ira called us and was very rude. Told us we were not supposed to use the truck for work purposes and would not accept payment. We told him that it wasn't for work. He told us to bring the truck back to the dealership immediately to re-do the contract. I told him we were not re-doing the contract and by law did not have to. He then told us we had to give the truck back to the dealership. He told us that if we didn't have it back within 2 days that he was getting a warrant for our arrest. He still refused payment. I told him that we were in Minnesota and I was pregnant. It would take more than 2 days to drive back to Georgia. But we did start back to Georgia. During those few days he called my brother-in-law, mother, and mother-in-law telling them about having us arrested and that our son would be taken away from us. He called them multiple times. When I got to Georgia I called and told them that due to my health, I could not drive the 100 miles from my home to turn in the truck. I told him to call me when they are in my area and I would meet them with the truck. For several days they did not call. Then they start emailing and calling saying I had a warrant for my arrest. Finally I got the owner of the dealership to email me. He agreed to send Ira to my home and that he would call before he left so that I could clean my truck out. Never saw or heard back from them for 2 to 3 days. One morning I happened to be awake early. They pulled up into my driveway and was looking at my truck which was parked on my carport. They would not show me any proof of any warrants. I had to rush and remove my belongings from the truck. That day I started experiencing signs of having a miscarriage. I had my 2 year old son and also no way of getting to the doctor or hospital. I was very stressed out for them taking my truck and only way to get somewhere. A few days later I had to end up calling an ambulance and had a very traumatic miscarriage. To this day I am haunted by that experience of repo and miscarriage. My health has somewhat declined and I have been very depressed and emotional. I found that they had put the entire cost of the purchase of the truck on my credit report. Last time I looked they had the same truck for sale on their car lot. I never recieved any papers in the mail. They never tried auctioning the truck. This has kept my husband and I from buying a house of our own. We incurred a lot of expenses just getting home from Minnesota. Much more, it has caused emotional stress, declining health, and the loss of a baby. I have now found the laws about credit/debt collections and can see that what they did was very illegal. I have witnesses who recieved phone calls from them and also copies of emails.
Clean title with accident / collision history? I am looking to buy a used car and I have a Autocheck account to check vehicle history.. I come across cars that have clean title but had a collision record (history) in auto check.. Does that mean that the accident was not so severe to issue a rebuilt tile? Can we buy such cars.. Will that collision history cause the resale value to go down later? One example - is a 2001 Civic LX with 130k miles is on sale from a owner for 4500$ which is exactly the fair price in KBB.. I checked the Autocheck and it had accident history twice in 2008... Obviously, the rebuilt title was not issued during the 2009 to 2011 registrations by DMV.. Is it ok to buy such car, keeping in mind that I drive 5k miles in next 2 years and look for selling at 3500 to 3800 $?

Please help business? CASE STUDY Simon & Sarah Drummond are qualified accountants, having completed their TAFE studies some years previously. In 2001, they commenced their own business “Books on the Run Pty Ltd” – a mobile accounting service operating in the North Eastern suburbs. Books on the Run advertise for a junior accountant to join the firm. Having recently gained your qualifications, you apply for & are successful in gaining the position (they are particularly impressed with thw fact that you have studies Legal Decision!). 1.During your 1st week of work you learn that Sarah is eager to impart her accounting knowledge to students Australia wide & she tells you that she has begun to write an accounting text book entitled “Figure it Out!” & is unsure as to how she would protect the Copyright. However, you also learn that although Sarah is enthusiastic to complete the text in the next 6 months, she has been pushed for time. As a result, she has been referring to an accounting text by another author (J M Hardy) & “just copying some of that”. Additionally, Sarah mentions that an ex-employee had written the 1st chapter of the book over which he was claiming copyright which she did not think he had a right to do. 2.Time passes & your probationary period at Books on the Run expires; you become a full time permanent employee. Simon Drummond, thinks it would be a good idea for you to have your own business cards, especially as you will be involved in a number of promotional events on behalf of the business in the next few months. After you approve a proof of the anticipated card, the printer makes up the order & delivers the business cards that afternoon in addition to an invoice in the amount of $250.00. Unfortunately, when you open the box, you find that the cards have been water damaged & consequently the ink has run on the majority of them. Simon immediately complains to the printer & refuses to pay the $250.00. He also demands that all the cards be replaced free of charge as they are not fit for the purpose. 3.The next day you arrive at the office to find Simon & Sarah in a state of panic – they have received a Court summons. On closer inspection you note they are infact being sued for a second hand car which they purchased from Sals Secondhand Autos a few months previously. It appears that the plaintiff on the summons, claims to be rightful owner (not Sarah & Simon) as Sal the motor dealer, was not authorized to sell the vehicle to them for a mount he did. 4.A few weeks afterwards, Simon decides to buy 2 new laptop computers from “Compugig” alarge retailer after he sees a special deal adverised in their latest catalogue (NEC laptops for just $1,199.00). He immediately rushes to Compugig only to be told by the sales assistant that they have “run out” of the “specials” but do have a more expensive model which would suitnthe needs of Books on the Run. Simon later hears from a reliable source that Compugig knew it had insufficient supplies to meet consumer demand. 5.You are about to finish work for the week & whilst you are getting ready to go home, you overhear Sarah talking in her office to Peter Bennets from “Accouting Plus” (a competitor of Books on the Run). Sarah & Peter agree that as they have market share of the provision of mobile accounting services in the North Eastern suburbs they will increase their prices to $180.00 per hour. You notice subsequently that this does in fact happen. 6.On the Monday morning, Simon tells you that approximately 6 months ago, Books on the Run took a bad debtor, Fred Slack, to court to obtain $5,000.00 in unpaid debts for the provision of accounting services. Eventhough a final court oder was obtained against Fred, the $5,000.00 remains outstanding. Simon wishes to take matters further. Instroductions: Produce a formal report (using Harvard system of referencing) advising Sarah & Simon on the above scenarios. In particular you should focus on: -The area(s) of law which you need to discuss; -Legal principles & cases in support of those pinciples which you discuss; -The likely outcome on each scenario; -Address any possible breaches of the law (common & statute); -Remedies (if applicable) If the assessor believes you have not addressed all necessary criteria, you will be asked to rewrite the report. Retain your report on disk.
My car was impounded without my consent. what should I do? Hello, I am currently twenty two years old and purchased my first car, a silver 2001 Hyundai Elantra last year around Aug of 2008 from a private owner. I first saw this car sitting in a gas station parking lot right off of banister road with a for sale sign placed in the window. I asked questions about the vehicle and eventually went on to purchasing it. I registered the car, paid for insurance threw AAA, and American Family. I have license plates in which I recently updated not to long ago. On the 7th of January, I had a car accident, which resulted in a total loss of my car. Gratefully I was not at fault, and the other driver had insurance. The Car is no longer drive able, and was towed to Richards Auto Salon in Grandview Missouri Threw lazer Tow Company. A day after the accident, both my and the other drivers insurance companies where notified of the accident with the police report and all other necessary information. The other drivers insurance company had set up a rental car for me to use in the mean time. A couple weeks pass, and on the 25th of January I receive a call from the other drivers insurance company stating that my car is no longer at Richards auto salon, and had been towed away by Grandview police. I proceeded in calling Richards Auto Salon and learned that Grandview Police had ran the VIN number on my car around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, and towed it away for reasons unknown. I have a clean record, and did not understand what was going on. Calling the Grandview police dept, the only thing they could tell me is that Kansas City police dept had a stop order issued out for it. They could not inform me why either. Now I've been going between Grandview police dept and Kansas City police dept, trying to get answers for a day and a half before I finally learned that The stop order was issued sometime in 2007, much before I even purchased the car. Something had happened with this car much before I owned it, but in order for me to have it released for the insurance company to pick up I have to pay for the towing fee and for the days it stayed there overnight. I spoke with the Kansas city police dept further and showed them the title for the vehicle, proving that it was registered and in my name as of August of 2008, and that I had nothing to do with what happened with the vehicle before then. The only response they gave me was to count my losses and pay the fees at the tow lot. My Issue is why must I pay for something I had no knowledge of? My car was towed away without my, or the owner of Richards Auto’s consent. My car was not sitting on the street, it was sitting on private property when the police came and ran the VIN number at 3 AM Sunday morning. I don’t know what I am to do about the car because I do not have the money to pay to have it released. I do not know what to do about this situation and why they cannot release the car without me having to pay. This is really an injustice to me, also very inconvenient.
Financial, political or government connoisseurs: what will happen next? Can the U.S.A. be saved? For couple of hours I've been going through CRAIGSLIST, first taking a look at real estate for sale in hope there'll be a good home rental there, since very few people are really following Craigslist's rules and post ads just about anywhere they want and I have found good bargains this way! I browsed through at least 850 of the for sales ads, which like I say include hundreds of rentals. I'm not surprised by huge amount of "For Sales" of lovely homes at prices 50k less than they were four years ago because this is something everyone in the U.S. knows and expects to find. What causes fear in my heart is the fact that in the BUSINESS category people are trying to sell everything, from $400 to $4k hot dog carts, and are selling sign companies, multiple dry cleaners, hundreds of restaurants, bars, pizzerias, delicatessens, shoe stores, car tire companies, auto parts stores, nightclubs, banquet halls, party-planning businesses, party rental businesses, supermarkets, shoe making companies, plant nurseries, hotels, Dollar discount stores, Hispanic coffee places (called cafeterias), daycares, ALF's, advertising and online businesses, cell phone stores, book making business, beauty salons, barbershops, fleamarket spots, fence companies, and even pawn shops!!! I mean, the pawn shop, in an economic situation like we have now we would think is a very profitable place and the owner would not want to sell--rent out maybe, but not sell! Add to this used Caterpillar equipment, construction and carpentry tools, commercial fryers, commercial freezers and slicers (by the dozens). Huge lots of shoes, cell phone carrying cases, motorcycles, boats (these two for barter daily as well as for sale), roofing material and equipment, huge collection of sports cards, dozens of restaurant equipments, landscaping trucks & equipment, entire contents of thrift stores, home-based etc. This is not counting what you find on the Barter or "For Sale" of each individual article! And 95% of what I mention is from businesses which are closing or have already closed. On top of that, right in the business section, there are law offices that supposedly are downsizing. I also personally see on TV some of Miami's eldest established practices advertising frequently and going as far as to "appeal to ethnic values" and remind audience and probable clients that they are "your American (meaning Anglo) lawyer, the one who's been here for such and such a long time"! Notwithstanding fact that some people have poor perception of attorneys--that excludes me because I know how truly valuable they can be!--so many will say that we can expect anything from a lawyer. And we can also expect them to advertise because out of state established firms have set up house here in Miami. But I can see these attorneys are feeling a lot of pressure, not so much from the Competition, but because by know most Miamians have declared bankruptcy, at least once already and it is difficult to have everyone declare a second time! Regarding foreclosure, most people are savvy enough to know they basically will be out of at least $4k and foreclosure will not be stopped; it will be slowed but not stopped. That's not taking into consideration the new law which went into effect last year in Miami-Dade county in which a judge gave order for banks to be able to move foreclosures at faster pace. So basically everyone in foreclosure is simply out of a house by now: what use can anyone make of an attorney for this? Basically in Miami most who are employed right now are the ones having anything to do with Medicare-provided services. Yes, that's a lot of people! Plus the 28,000 Metro-Dade employees, and all the part-timers in hotels and eateries in Miami Beach. But aside from these jobs there is not much else in Miami. At 13+% unemployment--which is probably considerably higher since illegal immigrants are not counted by agencies and most are paid under the table. There is the fact as well that our Congresswoman, along with Miami Mayor, on April of this year called for a census recount since it is not possible that Miami has 30,000 less people than it did in 2008 and 2009!!!!....This clearly says that the huge illegal immigration in Miami was greatly overlooked since they apparently did not let themselves be counted. Having lived in Florida for decades and having seen bad economy, especially in the mid-seventies, I can attest to fact that this had never happened before. Hearing news about Ohio this morning and about many government employees been laid off in so many places, I can only believe things will be worse pretty soon. That's not counting thousands of returning soldiers for whom work has to be found. So aside the U.S. getting in some Cold War/prolonged situation with China in which none of their goods get in here (and none of ours over there), and since an all-out-real-war w/ China is out of t and since an all-out-real-war w/ China is out of the question, what can the U.S. do to stop the economy sliding? For those not unemployed yet and/or still owning a business, they are aware of some things but not of the real gravity the country is in. My main concern is, who's minding the store?
Dealership won't send my title work to dmv out of state & I can't register the car or get tags, What do I do? Im from Georgia and I recently came to New York to purchase a vehicle from a used dealership. The dealership was supposed to do a state to state transfer and send all of the paper work to the Georgia Tax Commissioner's. I Put $6,000 down on a 2008 dodge charger on march 19, 2011. This is the first vehicle I've ever financed and I thought I had all of the correct paper work to get my tags (I have my bill of sale, temporary registration/tags, warranty , and Insurance). I go to the Georgia tax commissioner's on april 16th for my tags and the customer service told me my vehicle wasn't even showing up in the system, I need to have a copy of the title, and to contact the dealer and have him fax it, she also told me that the copy should have been given to me during the sale. I call the Tim (dealership owner) and ask him "what's going on, why isn't the car showing up in the system" and he's like "that's because you haven't faxed the emissions test to the lien holders". He never told me I needed to do that during the sale! I went ahead and faxed the emissions and waited about a week... still my car isn't showing up in the system. the Tax commissioner's told me this time I would just have to deal with te dealer at this point they can't issue me tags for a car that's not showing up in the system. Two months pass as I consistently keep trying to call Tim and the finance company to see what I can do to speed up the process. Every time I call the dealership Tim's secretary tells me either he's not in, he will return my call, or he's off for the day. The finance company basically keep telling me it's nothing they can do I have to go straight to the dealer and get whatever I need, they're not very helpful but they continue to take auto payments out of my account every month for a car I can't legally drive! I came all the way back up to NY on June 30th to speak with Tim face to face & when I get there he tells me my tags are on the way from georgia to his dealership and they should be there by next week (every time I call the georgia tax commissioners they tell me the vehicle isn't in the system). He seemed nervous and really pushy for me to leave he's like "Amy these type of things take time when you're doing a state to state transfer", I asked him if I could at least get another 30 day tag and he said "No, it's illegal in the state of New York to issue a second thirty day tag". Is he lying? I'm basically stuck here in NY waiting on my tags to be delivered. What can I do to get the tags? I went to the police to ask and they told me the only thing I can do is take it to civil court. All I really want to do is get the tags what can I simply do to get this man to do his Job?

after filing several petitions/motions, how long until i get notified of what happens? after a hearing in which i attended as the owner of a theft recovered vehicle, the judge awarded my truck to a used auto dealer who "bought" it from a friend of his. (i use the "quotes" because he didn't have a bill of sale, didn't transfer title, and the date he said he purchased it was before i saw it last) the title was stolen from my file cabinet, my signature forged, the notary stamped was stolen AND i had gotten a replacement title, yet the judge still gave him my pickup! I had no idea that was even possible. the judgment was entered may 17, 2011. I got notice by mail on may 25, 2011. and frantically spent the next three weeks looking for any help i could. there was none for free, and because this and other related cases, i was fired for taking the time off to handle it all, so i had to dig in, and educate myself. I filed the notice of appeal on june 16, 2011. and then found some things that might help still if i can get a judge to just listen. Starting june 17, i filed petitions and motions for a number of relief intended remedies injunction to stay the execution of a judgment and make additional findings of fact emergency injunction to stay the execution of a judgment and make additional findings motion for provisional remedies by statute in special action motion to declare findings of fact and conclusions of law motion to determine questions and construction of law motion to declare my statutory rights motion for 60(c) relief motion to vacate/alter/direct judgment motion to replevin/recover/retrieve/return/recoup my property then my docketing statement, affidavitt i lieu of bond, waiver/ deferral application, ordered transcripts, etc as i perused the procedures in arizona for special actions like this one (interpleader, order to show cause) i learned that the judge did indeed need to specify grounds for his decision with the judgment. since the hearing was on may 13, and he took it under advisement, i wasn't there to have it explained why my truck wouldn't be returned. after looking at the police reports, i am noticing there are inaccuracies as to the dates of events like when i learned of the missing vehicle which i'm assuming would suggest neglegience contributing to... so thats my only clue. however, the date is early by more than a month! report says i was told november 15, 2010 (which is actually the right date for a different event i had stated in the report) i was actually told of the missing vehicle on december 20, 2010. i myself didn't get to the site til december 22, and because i wasn't sure the vehicle wasn't towed i finally was told by police to make a report on january 10, 2011. the truck happened to be sold by the dealer on january 25, 2011 when it was recovered by police after the new purchaser went to mvd to transfer the title. (which was dated the 25th of jan, and showed as me selling it to him. also note this is the stolen and forged title which was replaced december 7th 2010) what do i do to get my truck rightfully returned. as the victim having my property held as evidince, i'm supposed to get it back or get an exsplanation of why i won't. i haven't gotten either yet and the truck is sitting on the guys lot for sale again so time is of the essence. superiorcourt.maricopa.gov>home>find a case>civil>case history>cv2011-007935 thats how to find the docket if you care to, which still poses another question: on may17, 2011 the judgment is entered. on may 18, 2011 it says matter to be taken under advisement. how do i find out what thats about? and how long does it take to get an answer on the motions i filed? i included the statutes which applied, as best as i can tell, some have affidavitts and memorandums of points and authorities, all of which have been prayed for which also has extra meaning if i understand right. the arizona rules of civil procedure in special actions were ammended/revised/updated as of may 15, 2011. which is right between the hearing (5-13) and decision entry (5-17) if that helps
Auto Titling and Mechanics Lien Business- is it a scam? I am having some trouble jumping through the bureaucratic hoops of fire to obtain a photo ID. I lost everything in a move. This has made it difficult to obtain my title or renew my registration on my car. I found a service that offered a solution. For a flat fee, this business will obtain my title, register my vehicle, and inspect the vehicle. The fee is oddly low, at only 150.00. When I researched the business, I looked more into mechanic's liens. Apparently this is how they conduct their business: by placing a mechanic's lien on the vehicle, they are able to handle tag renewals. If I use this service: Am I at risk of losing my vechicle? It is mine, one-owner, paid off. By applying for this lien, will it make it difficult for me to sell the vehicle? (This is my intention: I am prepping the car for sale)... Thanks for your help.
Do you think this story is sufficient for an eighth grade essay? “Eric!” a shout came ringing out, and I started shuffling towards my boss, on the other side of the isle of the auto repair shop I worked at. As I got closer, I saw he wasn’t going to give me a raise, he looked more furious than I had ever seen him. “Yes, sir, what is it?” I replied, pondering why he was this angry. “You remember a customer that came in with the black Ford pickup truck?” he paused a moment, expecting me to answer. After a second he continued, “State Farm just called, representing that same customer, whose brakes you were supposed to fix, by the way, expecting money because his brakes gave out at an intersection!” Ouch. This was big. I did fix a guy’s black pickup trucks brakes a while ago, or so I thought. I would definitely be fired for this one, and it would be near impossible to find another job. My head started to pound, and I felt like the world was collapsing in. “You’re fired, Eric.” I walked out of the open garage door of the shop and started to think. Without a job, I had no income, and without income, I had no house, no food, no anything. I had no way out. I kept walking, thinking until I came across something; another auto shop, this one called Pro Parts. I casually strolled in, looking around. I quickly realized that this shop was nothing like my old one. It was filled with body parts, under lights, rims, and things like that. This place didn’t repair cars, it customized them. I looked for the owner, and after a second I noticed someone in a back room, working on a car. I hit the service bell, and he rolled out from under the car and headed towards me. “What do you wish to buy today?” he inquired, looking for something in my hands. “Are you hiring right now?” I asked, hoping to get another job fast as I could. “No, I’m not. Sorry about that, but I don’t need help. Do you want to buy anything?” “Not right now,” I stated, disappointment heavy in my voice. Trying to make me happier, the guy said, “Did you hear about the race at Resco yet?” “No,” I said. “What’s Resco?” “It’s a raceway. I’m surprised you never heard of it. They’re having a tourney soon, in two days. The entry fee is fifty dollars, but the winner gets fifty grand and a new car, too.” I drifted into a daydream. I could do a lot with fifty grand, all right. However, I had no car. I lived in Chicago, right next to my job, and had no need for one. “Bye, then,” I said, strolling out the door, and once again onto the sidewalk, happier than when I came in. I needed to win that race, and I had a plan. I had good credit, so I would just loan money for a car, about thirty thousand, and when I won, I could just give thirty thousand back, and have twenty to spend as I please. Five hours and a cramped hand later, after filling out tons of paperwork, I had thirty thousand in my account now, to spend as I please. The next day, my goal still clear in my mind, I walked to the first dealership, this one for used cars. I looked around, and after making five rounds around the entire parking lot full of cars, I walked inside, where they kept their “showy” cars. And that is where I saw it, the car I was going to get. A used 2005 Mustang GT from Ford. A nearby dealer must have seen my look of awe, because he strolled over and asked, “Would you like to buy that, sir? Twenty five thousand dollars, plus a small fee.” I had a quick wave of doubt, how this was laying all my cards down, taking a risk that could send my life to the fast track, or destroy everything. However, this quickly passed, and then, I took the jump. “I’ll take it, right now if I can,” I mumbled, sounding like an awestruck child on Christmas. “Yes, I’ll get it right away!” The dealer was overjoyed that he made a sale, and he probably earned commission, so I could see why. I watched them bring it to the garage, where I hopped in, and my heart was racing, beating faster than I could ever remember. The car smelled of leather, and the overall feeling was phenomenal. I would have gone home and celebrated, but I had an idea for that last five thousand. Five minutes later, after having the best drive of my life, I was in front of the same place I had been before, called Race, Rims, and More. As I was walking up to it, I saw the same guy I had talked with before. I walked inside. “You’re back again, huh?” the owner seemed happy to see me. “I’m still not hiring, if that’s what you’re wondering. By the way, call me Norman.” I wasn’t really listening. I was obsessed with the things around me now, now that I had a car. I had five grand in my pocket, and I was going to spend it right, at least in my view. “What would you think I would need to enter the race, I mean, if I want to win.” I said, completely off topic, but important. “Oh, you’re entering, are you? What are you using in the race?” Norman was scanning the parking lot, trying to find my car. “That green Mustang, that’s mine. I just bought it yesterday.” I boastfully told him
Fighting the Insurance Company ? My Car was totaled but they won't pay me a fair price, I have a 1996 Del Sol. Only 8400 were made that year. Even less exactly as mine was built. I am the original owner and a fanatic about maintenance and it's in top condition and looks. Service managers, service writers and mechanics always ask me if I want to sell it. I was in an accident, not my fault and the car was totaled. The "at fault" insurance company used some "Auto Source" to estimate the value at $4900 "around my area". Hell, they can't even find one NATIONWIDE so they find a similar model (but not mechanically or optioned the same) and tell me that's all they'll pay me. I sumitted SEVERAL sheets of nationwide "for sale" cars, even though they weren't exactly like mine, I could find one or two that were closer mechanically and options, different color, different mileage. They were selling for $6500. And I don't know the mechanical condition, this is just going by info provided. So how can I buy another car like mine? I explained that you can't find a car like mine so I will have to wait until one is for sale at market prices, or THEY can find me a car like mine and pay whatever it costs. I know, I'm pathetic, it's just a car! But it's MY car and they destroyed it and I want what I had before they caused the accident! They won't even tell me where they towed it to and won't release it until I pay for the TOWING AND STORAGE because I didn't agree with their low-ball estimate! So storage fees are adding up plus the tow fees and I don't have money or a car. I was told to go through MY insurance which is even more pathetic than ME!!! They didn't even return my calls when the accident first happened and told me that the "at fault" insurance would handle everything and closed the claim! So now what do I do?
What to look for when buying a car. I just saw a 1988 BMW for only $1000. Is that a good deal? This is all it says. Cheap dependable transportation for sale. This car is not perfect so do not expect that. Currently used as my daily driver. The car is Bronzit in color with 2.5l inline 6cyl. engine and 4 speed auto transmission. The engine runs well and just had the emissions test today 7/01. It is due for an oil change and could probably use a valve adjustment as it is a little chattery but runs fine just the same. Transmission shifts good with no problems. Has tan interior but front leather seats were badly worn so I replaced them with vinyl sport seats. The car is decent looking with no large dents just door ding type dents. There is some rust in various places but the car looks pretty decent. Does not come with wheels pictured. It will come with standard BMW bottle cap wheels. Would make a good beginner car for a teen or someone looking for something cheap. This car is not for the BMW enthusiast unless you want to break it for parts. The previous owner replaced various suspension parts like the control arms. Also has a new OEM muffler. Price is firm! $1000 I can part the car and make more than this but don't see the point in parting a good running vehicle. I am selling this car because I have several others and am ready to move on. I have title in hand and would like it gone by Friday 7/04. Is this a good buy? I'm only 17 and don't know a lot about cars.
I'm an insurance agent selling auto, home, and life insurance...? ...and I'm looking to increase my life insurance sales a bit. I was told by a veteran rep once that prospecting at funeral homes is a good idea. How would you approach the manager/owner of the funeral home, and what would be a sales pitch for getting referral business from the people who use the services of the funeral home for life insurance?

TAOTAO SCOOTER HELP!? Hi I have a Taotao Chinese scooter and I have to change the oil. I went to Auto parts the other day and they said I needed to know what kind of oil it used. Since I am brand new at owning a scooter I have no idea and the owners manual was no help at all. Does anyone know if they use thick or thin Oil? (It's a CY-50 by the way) I have included a image. http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://images2.carsforsale.com/336137/5E769126-4051-4933-8D17-A36B08728E7B_1.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.carsforsale.com/used_cars_for_sale/2011_taotao_CY50-T3_135547721&usg=__tjshB-0F4yz9vwemzS6PaePr5nE=&h=480&w=640&sz=72&hl=en&start=0&sig2=3l-ufB7a3jifgXUWEdg9ow&zoom=1&tbnid=ozF9Ov7rRnxnnM:&tbnh=158&tbnw=217&ei=yooDTqKhGObi0QHuo82bDg&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dtao%2Btao%2Bcy-50%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26sa%3DX%26authuser%3D0%26biw%3D1440%26bih%3D809%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=943&vpy=216&dur=408&hovh=158&hovw=217&tx=102&ty=118&page=1&ndsp=24&ved=1t:429,r:10,s:0&biw=1440&bih=809
1974 'Cuda Project Value? I just bought a project 1974 Plymouth 'Cuda(performance package barracuda) and want to know what its worth. To start, I dont have a title. The last titled owner is now in prison for who knows how long and his kids lost the title in a house fire. They sold the car to the guy I bought it from with a bill of sale. I recieved a bill of sale as well. I have checked and the car isnt stolen or anything, and was last registered in 2004, so everything appears to check out. I am working on getting a bonded title. Condition-Pretty much everything there. except the rear valance. All glass is good and rolls up and down fine, the drivetrain is there and believed to the the original 318 and auto tranny, so probably numbers matching. Supposedly runs when the carb and distributor wires are put back on...There is a little rust in the trunk and in a few spots in the floors, but it wont need full floors, probably just footwell patches needed. Trunk is maybe saveable, maybe not. The interior isnt nice by any means, but it would be pretty decent with new carpet and front seat covers and headliner. It needs some body work. Not too rusty of a car, but it was hit in the rear. Looks to have only damaged the tail panel and rear crossmember and that little filler panel in between them. I have a near perfect new back bumper with it. Also, the driver quarter will probably need a lower patch and the passenger will either need a skin or lower patch depending on how bad the dents are... Front passenger fender is perfect, and the driver would be if the softball sized dent was taken out of it. The hood may need replacing, as it is a little wrinkled but I think its possibly saveable. If not, I will go buy another one for $300. Its the snorkel hood. The doors are just about perfect, and the rockers, door jambs and all look great too. The firewall also shows not rust or damage, And the frame is all solid. The gas tank and fuel lines look to have been replaced. Im trying to see my best option here. I am already working on a 68 camaro project and I bought this on a whim, because its my dream car(well close enough....71 is my favorite) Its a little more of a project then I am looking for, but I want to be smart about my choices. I can either sell now, or after I get the bonded title and maybe try to get it running and driving, and complete a little bit of the body work(not floors or rear accident, but I could have everything else on the body taken care of. What do I need to do? I want to use the money to finish restoring my camaro. OH and it was last inspected in 02, which gives me reason to believe that mechanically and electrically it might be in pretty good shape. I payed $2500 and the guy was getting phone calls the entire time I was there from people trying to offer him more. Im in the dallas area by the way.
How and why do they do stuff like this to us poor gun owners? just watched a special on HBO called the Gunfight supposedly a debate pro & con on gun ownership. Ya right, about 20 minutes of testimoney by doctors in emergency room treating predominately black gun shot patients (doubt any of them or their shooters were NRA, SCI, RMEF, DU etc members) & claiming NRA & gun owners were to blame. Then maybe a few minutes of NRA types stateing their views then back to another 20 minutes knocking the NRA by Brady gun control (ban) group & other anti gun people incl a kid that was wounded in Va Tech shooting. Showed them going to gun shows & many AKs ARs Barrets etc for sale & guys offereing to sell without paper etc, showed a wall of full auto type assault weapons lots of scarey stuff to non gun people put them in a panic with misinformation & hyperbole based on partial truths laced with emotions. THey want the so called gun show loop holes closed period, & next the gun shows & then the gun shops of course. Re the straw man purchases where a criminal who couldn`t pass background ck hires clean guy to buy guy for him...you would be a fool to do this...the gun is then registered to you..so if he uses in a holdup, murder, whatever & leaves it behind who are they going after? you..& how will you prove you sold it? Especially now that its illegal for you to do so you lose either way. Dumb dumb thing to even consider & I doubt that many if any real crooks do it. Much easier just to steal them. No prints, no paper, instant posession, no witnesses to testify against you as the straw man etc. duh.

Buying a taken domain name? I want to make an offer to a domain owner to buy his/her domain. The domain was registered 3 years ago, and haven't been used (so it seems). I waited a whole year to see if the domain owner will by some miracle forget to renew it, but I got the idea it's set to auto renew. Because, the domain didn't get renewed until like a few hours before it expired. The problem is, that I don't know how to get hold of the owner, because the owner uses "Domains By Proxy" to keep himself private. So, using the WhoIS search didn't help at all. The only thing I could see though, is that the owner used "Go Daddy" to register it. It says so when looking at the WhoIS info, also, when you go to the domain, it opens a Go Daddy page. What can I do? I know GoDaddy has a domain buy service, where they contact the owner on your behalf, but it costs like $70 or something, and I did a google search... seems like most people ignore godaddy offers... it doesn't seem like there is any good reviews about that. Does anyone have any experience with them? Is there any way I can find contact info of the domain owner, even though he have himself private? Any other ideas? It also doesn't look like the domain is listed as "for sale" anywhere... not from what I could find.
Odometer Tampering, how to get my money back? My wife and I recently bought a car on craigslist by a "private owner" who after some research I've found out that he is a certified mechanic used to work at a dealership, and supposedly can fix anything, and who possibly works for united auto wholesale in Portland. He also had/has a few different car adds up. Which as I've looked into is illegal unless you are a licensed dealer, which I have also looked up he is not. Anyways, as it turns out, I bought the car gave him the money ($3500) signed bill of sale as is for 125k miles. (the car looked, sounded good at first) Then when I took the car to DEQ it did not pass due to an o2 sensor being broken. Anyways, so far so good, it's an used car and there are always problems... that isn't too huge of a problem however. I eventually got a carfax of the car's history and found out that the car which he advertised and signed the bill of sale to have 125,000 miles actually had 233,000 back in 2007. He is the original owner of the car although there appears to be another name on the title, the carfax report only shows 1 owner. What seems to have happened is that he changed the dashboard on the car took out the whole thing, which isn't hard to do on honda's and then he switched with a dashboard from another car that probably was pulled from a junkyard, also when my non certified- mechanic friend helped me put new bulbs on the dashboard light, (because they were out and we believed they were just burnt out, since it is common for older cars to have burnt out dashboard lights) I discovered that the check engine light and the srs light were not burnt out like we thought it was, it was instead broken, as well as many screws missing from the dashboard. When I tried to contact him about all of this, he refuses to talk to me, he ignores the phone calls, a couple of times he talked to me and said that I signed as is and I can't do anything about it then he would hang up. Another time he told me to leave him alone, and then would hang up. I noticed also he did not put his address on the bill of sale. My question to you is, is there anything I can do about this? any possible way me and my wife can get our money back? It has been just over 40 days since this happened, and I have just been desperately seeking for help. Have called DMV and they haven't been able to get me to talk to anyone, I attempted to work with the local Police where I live in, but they just wasted my time and 3 weeks later told me to contact another county’s police because they are understaffed here and don't have the time to do anything about it. If it is not too much to ask can you please give me any information of what I can do, or should do, or need to do. It will be very much appreciated.
Sale of used pickup truck on time, do I get the title as legal owner? I'm a first time seller of an auto. I sold it on time to a friend. Should some thing come back to me after she registers to show I am still the legal owner? Is it different state to state? This is in California. And be kind I'm way too old for this. Thank you, I sent in my half of the form.
Is it legal to sell a used car in florida without transferring title? My wife bought a used car privately. The seller is a mechanic (owns a tire franchise) and he claims to have purchased the car from a customer. The title was still in the name of the customer he bought it from and the sellers wife forged the previous owners name on the title. After six weeks the engine has thrown a rod and is unuseable. I know my wife shouldn't have accepted this title but I am wondering if I have any legal recourse. In Florida there is no lemon law on private auto sales but I think this guy may have known the engine was going.
How can I safely buy a used car from a private seller who is still making payments & does not have the title? Is there a way to handle the sale so I will be protected, and if so, what is it? I have always bought new cars from large, authorized dealerships so this is the first time I've planned to buy a car from a private seller. I prefer not to consult a lawyer for a matter like this, but I also want to make sure my interests are protected. If it makes any difference I live in Maryland & the seller lives 100 miles away in Delaware. The seller is the original owner and her auto loan is with Chrysler Financial since it was purchased at a Chrysler Dealership. (Note: I posted a similar question two days ago but now need to rephrase my question. I welcome any answers, even if you answered my similar question on August 6.)
The Saw dust scam has it happened to you? I purchased a used truck to go hunting and now the engine knocks and the mechaninc said it was lifters. So I gave him the job and he opens up the engine and finds saw dust. The man that sold me tha truck claims he bought the truck like that and that he was told the engine had new lifters put in. I can't locate the original owner that scams people like this, but in any event I had the truck fixed right and now I'm good to hook,.but you have to watch out for those tricks people use to sale a quite running auto. Don't be fooled.
In Tx., how long does a used car dealership have 2 xfer a title from previous owner (individual) to them? I bought a 2001 Xterra (put down $2000, financed the rest) from a dealership (A & M Motors). I have the bill of sale. Approximately 6 weeks later, car had been towed (no parking zone). I went to get it from tow lot and showed insurance, ID, bill of sale. I got the car out, but towing co. told me that car was in an individual's name (Mary Halliwell). This is not the dealership or auto dealer's name. Did dealership have a responsibility to transfer title to themselves (A & M Motors) from Mary Halliwell before selling me the car? Now, the car was in an accident and I don't know who is going to be compensated.....A & M (are they the lienholder?), Mary Halliwell (owner of vehicle per the title) or me (I have the bill of sale and I financed the car through A & M Motors). What is the law in Texas regarding transfer of title from person to dealership to person. Isn't there a legal time frame to transfer title at least from Mary to dealership? I am at my wit's end! Help!!!!
Are cars sold in auto sales involved in accidents? Someone told me that most of the cars there were in accidents and that that fix the wholse car up to make it look nice. Reason i am asking this is because i want to find a good used car. Am i better off buying straight from a owner of a car.
Buy a used car from Private Party? If I buy a used car from private party, and now still waiting the auto loan to send the title and i just got the car and Bill of Sale after the purchase. So am I a legal owner of this car? If there possible if the original owner dont pass the title to me?

2007 Honda Accord Coupe Console Light color? my parents just bought me a 2007 honda accord coupe from an auto sale place and not from a certified used from a honda dealer and I was wondering what is the color of the console lighting. My mom drives a 2003 honda accord SEDAN and the console lighting (the color of the buttons' texts when you turn on the lights at night) is very light greenish. When I turn on the lights for my car, the button text color is orange. Is this stock or did the previous owner of the car modify the lighting? I'm sure there's not much difference between the 2003 and 2007 other than a different design. Did Honda make a different console lighting color for the coupe and sedan just for distinction purposes? If this is modified, where can I take this to return it back to normal and if so; how much would it cost? Everything else on the car is stock for sure because I did my homework before getting the car. The only thing I'm not sure about is the lighting of the buttons at night. that's all...
Who can deny this autoaven.com/stars-automart.com? Denver News BBB Flooded With Complaints On 2 Auto Auction Sites Stars-Automart, Autoaven Sent Cease And Desist Letters POSTED: 12:41 pm MDT August 11, 2009 DENVER -- The Denver office of the Better Business Bureau said its telephone helpline has been jammed with calls from people across the country who are asking about two auto sales Web sites that claim to be headquartered in Denver. • If you have become a victim of fraud, contact your BBB and the Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov to file a complaint. if you were scammed report it to your local police. Make an IC3.com complaint. Call your attny General and file a complaint. Send a notice to the secret service and try to get them to investigate. Get your local police to contact interpol. If you don't hear anything within 4 weeks call your congressman. We will not get any money back but we will shut these guys down and prevent it from happening again
Bought used car with undisclosed frame damage need help? I Bought a 1994 Oldsmobile cutlass supreme with 167,000 miles on it at the end of June from an auto dealer and have substantial problems with the car ever since. On the test drive my girlfriend and I pointed out a few things that were noted on the bill of sale to be fixed before we were to drive the car off the lot including simple things like faulty window motors and a rattling sound in the rear passenger side wheel well. Everything that we listed ended up breaking again and the sound never went away and were given estimates to fix them even though we were in a 30 day window of taking the car and could not afford to fix them. Long Story short after several trips there and estimates I couldn't afford I took it to another mechanic after my muffler fell off because no one at the dealership could fix it at the time It turns out my frame is damaged beyond any repair because of rust and the rattling sound we heard was our control arm that had broken through the frame. My new mechanic believes that the inspection sticker put on the car isn't legit; like the dealership paid off the inspector because a car should have never passed a safety inspection with that amount rust and damage on the under carriage/ frame. DO I have a case for auto fraud for undisclosed frame damage or the lemon law in my favor. A few details- I live in Massachusetts, I brought all this to the owner of the dealership and was told to pound sand all they would do is find a welder at a a cost to me even though the new mechanic says it is rotted beyond repair. The RMV told me they are powerless over the inspection and Attorney general and Better Business Bureau will only mediate which the dealership refuses to do.
Looking at a civic, Fusion or mazda 3, please help!!? hi, i am looking at a few cars for myself and for my parents. They want a car to get me to and from work and when i am not using it they want to use it. They would like to keep the bill around $15k. i have test driven a Ford Fusion, Mazda 3 and a Honda Civic. I was also looking at the Vw jetta 2.0 but for some reason there are none in the northeast so that car is not an option. Which of the three cars is the most reliable and would be the funnest to drive without giving up comfort. My dad is 6'2'' and we normally drive around with 4 people total in the car so we want a comfortable car. I am confused because they all have good qualities and the prices are darn near the same, so i dont know what to do. Thanks for any help. I was going to buy new but i did Find one honda that was used for sale near me. It is a 2006 Honda Civic Lx auto, excellent condition, power everything. The only negative is it has 38k on it. The owner (a women) drives it 90miles round trip a day. Help appriciated i don't really want a diesel car as the price to fix them is slightly higher and starting them in the winter by me is a real pain. I think Vw is going to be a touch more on the expensive side also.

Buying a salvaged 900 Saab SE Hatchback? I'm in the market for a cheap used car. My car runs well, but it's got a lot of millage on it. I found a 900 SE Saab Hatchback at a dealership not to far from me, who will accept my old car for a trade in. They're charging $1,500 for this Saab with only 55,000 miles, and it looks fine except the front bumper is a little rough. I looked it up with CarFax and it was in an accident back in 98, salvaged, then a new owner had it, and drove it for another 20,000 miles over the next three years. Now it's up for sale, http://www.auction123.com/showroom/all_sales_auto_group/1995/Saab/900/SE/YS3DF58V3S2006999.html?showroom_dealer=7187&wait=false Does this sound like a good deal to anyone? Or am I going to drive this thing off the lot and right into a junk yard? It was in an accident in New York, Salvage Title was issued in San Antonio Texas, Then in New Rochelle, NY a new owner was reported along with a Salvage Title and "Rebuilt title" issued.
Those Democrats were brilliant for coming up with Cash For Clunkers, weren't they? Of course, France initiated the program last year and the rest of Europe has been doing it for months now. "For months, European car buyers have been junking clunkers for cash, boosting automakers sales -- but making experts fear that once the government handouts stop, the struggling car industry will return to a slump no pile of cash can conquer. The various programs have surged in popularity since France introduced the idea in December 2008. Germany, Italy, Britain, Romania, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain and Serbia have introduced their own versions aimed at shoring up local automakers, from Germany's Daimler AG to Romania's Dacia. While critics contend the billions of euros in handouts only benefit automakers at the expense of other industries and have just delayed a slump in car sales, proponents point out that it has kept large companies operating and helped reduce layoffs and temporary shutdowns. But only for a time, some fear. The question is, what happens when the money runs out -- will the industry ease off the ramp or drive off a cliff. "It is a question of somewhat forestalling the inevitable," Paul Newton, an auto analyst for IHS Global Insight, told The Associated Press on Friday. "The reality is that without it, the chances are you'll see a lot of businesses going to the wall." Instead, he said that auto companies and dealership owners are using the programs, for now, to clear inventory and build up cash on hand before "for what is very likely to be a very tough 2010."" http://finance.yahoo.com/news/In-Europe-cash-for-clunkers-apf-2770382290.html?x=0 Do you think that 2010 will be a worse year than 2009 because the Cash for Clunkers program has snapped up all the people looking for new cars in a tough economy?

What do I do if an auto repair service ripped me off? Here's the story, I just purchased a used car. I noticed that it would start shaking around 25 mph, then resolve, and start again around 55 mph. I took it to an auto repair shop, and they said it was something about tire rods or arms or something, and charged me $800 to fix it. Well, I'm $800 poorer and have the car back, but the problem isn't fixed... not even a little. Now what? Note: I can't go back to the original owner unfortunately... it was a private party sale. I need to know how to deal with these mechanics and get my car FIXED.

Car Dealership sold my car without my permission? Here is a copy of a letter that I wrote to the BBB and the Department of Consumer Affairs. But can someone tell me if what this business did was legal? And your opinions on my situation? Thank you. I purchased a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2 from Auto Bank on October 8, 2008. I made my payments up until January. I was then unable to make my payment and fell 2 payments behind. I was worried about Repossession so I called and spoke to the owner Doug Chell and he said that I could bring the car there and I could leave it there for no later than 30 days and then I could have my car back if I could catch up on those payments within the 30 days. I returned my car to Auto Bank around February 20th 2009. After a couple of weeks, I was ready to make my payments so I went into Auto Bank yesterday, March 5, 2009 and I asked the owner, Doug, where my car was because I did not see it on the lot or back near the service station. He stated to me that he did not know the location of my car. I told him that I did not give him permission to remove the car from this location, and that he should atleast tell me where I can get my car, or atleast where it is located. He was not cooperative with me. I went outside to use the telephone and I called my father. He stated to me that he drove past Auto Bank the night before and saw my car sitting in the front of the business, cleaned off like it was for sale. I asked Doug about this and he still would not give me any information. The other employee, Matt would also not give me any information on this. Doug said that I could get a different car if I wanted but I would have to put down another down payment and lose all the money I put into the car so far. I just wanted my original car back. It was never supposed to be sold, or relocated. If I am unable to get this car back, if they in fact did sell it, I should be entitled to some kind of compensation because I put down a $1,800 deposit on the car and also made 6 payments of $160. All together I paid Auto Bank $2760 for the car. The title was also removed from my car without my permission. I gave them the keys to the car incase they needed to move it around on the lot, but I never authorized my title to be removed from the glove box.
Has violence against Americans increased because of the immigration issues? Lawmakers are weighing in and calling for Newsom's resignation as well as pundits, media and opinion editorials declaring that they believe that Newsom as well as other officials should be held legally responsible for being complicit in the death of the Bologna father and sons.http://wwwwakeupamericans-spree.blogspot.com/2008/07/san-francisco-sanctuary-city-shielded.htmlNews that SHOULD be presented by all the major, TV and radio networks, the BEATING DEATH OF A TWO-YEAR OLD GIRL BY HER OWN GRANDFATHER, is given in only 116 words on the website of a local, TV station in Oklahoma City. Now whyyyy would midstream media “journalists” like Nancy Grace, Wolf Blitzer and Katie Couric not pick up this story? That’s right, you guessed it, it’s an ILLEGAL ALIEN who murdered the little girl. And telling the truth about illegal aliens to the American people is bad for Big Business and Democrats. And besides, it’s “racist” to speak honestly about “undocumented immigrants”. The killer, ILLEGAL ALIEN from Guatemala, Herman Marzelo Vail Bailon, is a 32-year old GRANDFATHER, who just couldn’t keep his hands off the little girl. Police detained the ILLEGAL ALIEN SCUMBAG for questioning on Saturday after they were called to an Oklahoma City motel room where employees had been asked to help a choking toddler. But police say the presence of blood in the room indicated there was something more sinister happening. Police arrested the ALIEN PUKE on a child abuse complaint. Doctors then noticed bruising on Liliana’s body and further examination revealed the girl’s skull had been fractured and that she had suffered other injuries. AMERICA, DON’T EXPECT TO EVER HEAR ABOUT THIS AGAIN. In Michigan, ILLEGAL ALIEN, Rodrigo Delacruz-Encarnacion, killed 52-year old, William O’Brien, when the unlicensed, illegal alien with fake ID turned into the path of O’Brien, causing O’Brien’s Harley-Davidson, motorcycle to smash into the invader’s van. The illegal alien then tried to escape, forcing witnesses to detain the killer until police arrived. The denverpost says, “Driver identified in I-70 crash”, when what they SHOULD be saying is. “DRUNK ILLEGAL ALIEN KILLS HER OWN FRIEND”. A man was pronounced dead Friday night after being ejected from a sport utility vehicle carrying eight people involved in an alcohol-related crash off of Interstate 70 in Eagle County, according to the Colorado State Patrol. Jose De Jesus Trinidad-Esparza, 19, was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unknown where Trinidad-Esparza resides, the patrol reported. The driver has been identified as Lenora Hernandez, 20, of Avon, Colo. She faces numerous charges, including vehicular homicide, careless driving causing bodily injuries, driving under the influence and no driver’s license. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents found that Hernandez was an illegal alien, according to the patrol. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Stepfather booked in child’s death kten.com OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A 32-year-old man has been booked with first-degree murder in the death of his 2-year-old granddaughter. Illegal immigrant charged in fatal motorcycle crash in Holland blog.mlive.com HOLLAND (Michigan)– An illegal immigrant who allegedly caused a fatal crash by turning in front of a motorcyclist was charged Thursday with trying to leave the scene of the deadly collision. Rodrigo Delacruz-Encarnacion, 25, is jailed on a $100,000 bond following his arraignment in Holland District Court on the felony, which is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. Police say Delacruz-Encarnacion is responsible for killing William O’Brien, 52, of Holland in an 8 p.m. Wednesday crash. O’Brien was driving his 1996 Harley-Davidson south on Butternut Drive when the suspect’s minivan turned into the path of his motorcycle. O’Brien could not avoid the crash, and struck the passenger side of the van. He died at the scene. His family declined to comment on the accident. Ottawa County sheriff’s Lt. Steve Kempker said witnesses had to detain Delacruz-Encarnacion at the scene of the crash until police arrived. He was arrested and taken to the Ottawa County Jail. The suspect has been in the country illegally since the spring and has been working odd jobs and living in migrant camps, police said. He allegedly had fraudulent identification when he was arrested. Authorities believe Delacruz-Encarnacion is a risk for fleeing the area since he has no ties to Holland. The vehicle, which had been pulled over for unsafe lane use, stopped and then sped away as the officer approached the vehicle, stopping in a dirt pullout, according to the DPS. The driver, also an illegal immigrant, tried to run, then the officer tried to restrain him, at which time the officer was attacked by a passenger who attempted to choke him. After the officer broke free, the men fled. Six other illegal immigrants were in the vehicle and held at gunpoint by theAs the Illegal Immigration issue has taken a back-burner in this years Presidential election, the effects of open borders and a broken immigration system still linger on the American people. Just the other day, Tony Bologna and his two sons were shot to death after their car came close to another car driven by illegal alien felon Edwin Ramos. Ramos, 21, an illegal alien from El Salvador, simply pulled out his gun and killed these men in cold blood. Just last March, San Francisco police arrested Ramos on a gun charge and already had two other felony convictions before that. However, due to San Francisco’s “sanctuary city” policy, the city officials did not alert Homeland Security about Ramos. According to San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, “We are standing up to say to all of our residents, we don’t care what your status is in terms of legal certification.” Since the shooting, Newsom has rescinded part of the sanctuary policy, but it is far too late for the Bologna family. How many times does this have to happen to American families? How many people have to suffer for the Federal government to step in and secure our borders? Milan Azar, Lopez-Navor’s lawyer, said the case still haunts him. “In all my years as a lawyer, very few cases really stick with me but this one does. It was very sad.” Kevin Aucoin, chief legal counsel for DCYF, acknowledged that it is an emotionally wrenching case. “It certainly is a tragic case. “But this is a case where DCYF’s paramount concern had to do with the safety of the children, Alexis and Victoria,” said Aucoin. An illegal immigrant charged with killing two people in a South Richmond car crash now faces a $2.3 million wrongful-death suit filed by the family of one of the victims. The administrators of the estate of Kathryn L. Jones, who was fatally injured in the May 24 wreck, also has named as a defendant the construction company for which Carmen Alejandro Garcia-Hernandez was employed. Garcia-Hernandez was driving a pickup truck registered to R.J. Biringer Construction Co. Inc., whose owner, Ronald J. Biringer, is under federal indictment for transporting illegal immigrants. Richmond police allege that Garcia-Hernandez was driving the truck when it ran off Snead Road and hit a parked car that spun around and fatally injured two people standing next to it, Jones, 44, and Joseph Owens, 40, of Alberta in Brunswick County. Jones, a native of South Hill and the mother of two children, lived in the neighborhood were the crash occurred and was attending a house-warming party when she was struck, said Charles H. Cuthbert Jr., her attorney. She had been employed several years as a security guard for Wackenhut Corp., he said. After the crash, police said Garcia-Hernandez, 28, tried to flee the scene on foot, but witnesses detained him until officers arrived. He was indicted June 9 on two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter, driving while intoxicated and felony hit-and-run driving. According to the lawsuit, Garcia-Hernandez had a blood-alcohol level of 0.15, nearly twice the legal limit of 0.08. His employer, Ronald Biringer, was indicted March 19 by a federal grand jury in Richmond on a single count of transporting illegal immigrants to Fort Lee. He was arrested a day later and released on bond.http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/news.apx.-content-articles-RTD-2008-07-18-0234.html The governor cited the recent arrest in Providence of Marco Riz, an illegal immigrant arrested several times before he allegedly kidnapped and raped a Warwick woman, as an example of the need for his executive order. Carcieri’s order requires law enforcement and correctional officers to work closely with immigration officials to identify illegal immigrants. “Illegal immigration is a huge issue in our state and around the country,” Carcieri told Fox News host Bill O’Reilly. “This case just epitomized that and, unfortunately, the City of Providence, which is our capital city, has not climbed on board. One of the men, Benito Rayo Zavala of 3262 Hwy. 111/903, Albertson, is facing a long list of felony charges at the county level, while federal charges are pending against Ernesto Rayo Morales of 126 L.G. Westbrook Lane, Albertson. The men’s ages have not been confirmed by local authorities. Morales is an illegal immigrant and Zavala is also believed to be in the country illegally, Duplin County Sheriff Blake Wallace said in a recent press conference. The sheriff noted that both arrests were made as a result of probes by the multi-agency Duplin County Drug Enforcement Task Force, which executed search warrants at separate homes in the Albertson area earlier this month. Zavala was arrested on July 7 in the more recent case, when an investigation into the possible manufacturing and selling of methamphetamine culminated in a search of Zavala’s home. http://www.clintonnc.com/articles/2008/07/26/news/doc488a9ad2823d0605274558.txt
need help buying 65 mustang? hey friends, I plan to travel several hundred miles to look at a 1965 mustang thats for sale. I know (remember) very little about them , this was the first car (simular) that i ever owned in 1966 (darn how time flies). the photos i received look fanastic. red coupe with 289ci 2brl carb auto. it was advertised to be in almost? show condition, and redone about 2 years ago, no rust. i am not a dealer, reseller show person etc. and really don't know exactly what to look for. i plan to keep this car (if bought) and pass it on to one of my children. i can use and would really appreciate any advise you could pass on, SOUNDS like an honest person that i have been talking to (current owner) but who knows. did the 65's come with A/C vents in dash are were they all the hang-on type? how is rack & pinion steering different than the original? how do i check the compression and what should it be? what would be a fair (average) price if its in show or almost show?? condition. Thanks in advance
Would you vote for me if I ran on this platform? I would run as independent candidate under my own party. I am only 16 but in the future i plan to make a bid for governor and then possibly president Economics: I support a tax cut of 12% for every income of less than $400,000/yr. I want a tax increase of 3% on anyone that earns more than $400,000/yr. i support a national flat sales tax of 4% I want a plan that will establish a tax of only 1% on any industry that comes into the U.S.This will last for a period of 8 years. Then the tax will increase 1% every year for 5 years. This will create jobs and expand our economy allowing businesses to grow. I will threaten industries that have outsourced our jobs. I will stand up to them and tell them that if they do not return home and create jobs here than I will place a very large tariff on them. I want to cut any unnecessary and ridiculous spending that is going on in Washington. Social Issues: I support abortion in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother's life is at risk. I support homosexual civil unions and an amendment to define a civil union as the union between two consenting adults. When it comes to marriage, a church can make its own decisions on that. Foreign affairs: I support the deportation of illegal aliens from the U.S.I would increase the amount of raids. I would fund a bigger wall with new technology to stop the influx of illegal aliens. I believe in diplomacy. In working with other countries to solve global problems. I think that Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa should be admitted as states into the U.S. I believe that health care is a right and that everyone should have access to it. So I want people to decide whether they want to keep their private healthcare or pay coverage through the government, with a type of card that would be provided to them. The card would cover the family. The owner of the card would be able to add funds but not take out, an additional 3,500 dollars will be added to the card annually from income tax collected. I would eliminate the current welfare and food stamp system and replace it will a system in which families that apply after 3 months of vigorous investigation would receive a "gift card" from the government of 300 dollars and it would be cashed at any bank. In order to qualify the person must maintain a stable job and have ample proof. Education is extremely important to me. Public Schools will be completely reformed. Access to better textbooks and internet will be mandatory. Also teachers will be better trained. Energy: We need to use our own natural gas and clean coal technology. Our government needs to invest in nuclear, solar, and wind. We have to force the auto-industry to make more gas efficient automobiles.
